Got knee deep into riding and the culture (worked in a bike shop as well) around 1983 and stayed in until 1992 when I went overseas.  My brother & I rode GT's exclusively even though we loved the others brands as well.  When I went overseas that was it for bikes for me as there was no free time.  Fast forward to 2006 when I started buying up or building all the old classics from my childhood like the Skyway Street Beats, Hutch Wind Stylers, GT Pro Performers, Haro Masters, Haro Sports & a few others.  Never really rode just collected them.  Around 2009 I started selling them because they were just collecting dust.  A year later I had nothing.  2017 I tossed the idea around for some plain bmx (not freestyle) bikes for the wife and I to tool around the neighborhood on.  They're small, light, easy to maneuver, and versatile.  Well the bmx world has changed drastically since the 80s & I have no CLUE what I'm doing now, hence my bmxmuseum subscription.  I'm slowing learning the new shit...

Edit 15 Oct. 2018; Ok, this new shit ain't that bad lol.  I'm knee deep in this & I'm catchin' on lol.
