1986 Haro Sport
1986 Haro Sport
Found this bike on the side of the road. Someone ditched it. Apparently had no clue what they had their hands on. Project in the making.

Very cool bike dude, love a great "side of the road" discovery. It looks very nice in that condition minus the seat of course

Now that's what I call a 'find'. You actually found it. Have you decided what color to restore it?

Re: 1986 Haro Sport
Welp, I still have it, and at a point in life where I can actually start the process of rebuilding this thing. I'd like to keep it looking just how I found it, only new. I just ordered the repro folding fork pegs. I plan on slowly ordering the parts every month or so and when I have everything together, figure out what to do with the frame, fork, bars, stem. Kind of a one off because the frame is 86 color way and the fork, bars, set are 85. Wish I knew how that happened. Also cant decide on the frame because of the chrome. I think I had read the chrome usually wasn't the best anyway, but cant decide if i'd like to keep it that or powder it all the 86 blue. Until next time.

Re: 1986 Haro Sport
So I have posted this on a FB group about how I akwuired this bike and getting flamed. Want to share here and see if I get the same hate...
Literally found this bike leaning against a fence about 12 years ago. The bike was not in a neighborhood or someone's yard... It was on the city easement of a 4 lane major street in our town leaning against a fence. The nearest neighborhood entrance was at least several hundred feet away. I Busted a u-turn and tossed it in the car. When I got home, I called the police and told them about it. They said an officer will come out for a report, the bike would stay in my possession, if not claimed in 90 days it was mine. When the officer saw it, he didn't even want to do the paper work because it was so rough. I have zero guilt for picking it up. Like I said, I filed a police report...
Should I have just left it there on the side of the public street? What would you have done? Should I have went to the nearest neighborhood and went door to door asking if someone left unridable bike on the side of "County Line Road"?
