Re: Todays Ride.

Impromptu ride today, if you see this and are not as lazy as me,  you might meet us(me, myself and Jhidley). Considering how much I ate the past two days, you will catch us or catch me barfing. Good time all around.

San Leandro Main Library to USS Hornet

Meet up at 300 Estudilo, Estudillio, Esdudildo... however it's spelt... in the Library parking lot ~Noon.
Take off around 12:15 ish.

Ride to Hays, down Williams, over to Oyster Bay, through OAK on Ron Conway, Harbor bay, loop up to Doolittle Dr bridge, around to Shoreline and follow that to Central and then meander over to the USS Hornet.

~16mile one way
~32 mile total.
~3hrs or so.
It'll be a balmy 68° and ~5MPH winds.

It's a fun ride, take down a few wobbly roadies, pass the pleasure riders, maybe see something nice in the process.
Bring water and a snack if you want to join up, usually don't stop for burgers/burritos, maybe a Gatorade but rarely.
No jackassery, just ride and watch out for rogue Saturn's, Nissan Altima/Maxima's and white Civic coupes.

Re: Todays Ride.

The ride MadMike and I went on turned out to be a bit longer than planned.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/224615/ride-map61a3cb6c5a.png

38.02miles, 3.43 hours, 11.1mph. We ended up circumnavigating the entire island of Alameda. By the end of the ride, it was down to 60F, which was getting uncomfortable.

The NW end of the island that we didn't ride on consists of two runways that are fenced off. This is where the 2nd Matrix movie filmed the freeway chase scene and where Mythbusters did almost all of there car stunts for 8 or so years. In 2014, they did an episode on driving a car on two wheels. The company I work for provided the rollbar for the Mustang that they used.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/224615/untitled61a3cf8795.jpg

Of course they ended up flipping it.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/224615/untitled261a3d7c56e.png

Near the NW end of the island was a guy flying RC aircraft amongst the many square miles of concrete that the island provides. He had a P51D Mustang, F15 Eagle and a Blue Angels F18 Hornet. I thought it was quite ironic that he was flying the Blue Angels jet at an old Naval Air Station.

Now for the money shot.

2020 Targét edition Mongoose frame with an assortment of unbroken replacement parts and a 2000 GT Mach1. I'm sure MadMike will chime in with some additional, after the fact, megaprose.

With the return of cold weather, I shift my ride time to the Fat Bike. I still try to get a little flatland time in at lunch, but not always possible.
