I would like to bump this thread. I have been wanting to try this for a long time.

I did it exactly as described on page 1 of the thread. As soon as the part hit the mixture, the anodizing started coming off. I mean, instantaneous. (Did I add too much lye?)

The results are terrific!

Just take all necessary precautions and it’s quite easy. Thank you deme.

yeah sounds like the solution may have been a little "hot" .. its always easier to add more Lye when doing a part. To much can damage a part if not watched. A buddy of mine did it and put to much lye and left the part in for a min or 2, to long and the threads were shot.
