Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

So here's where my 1980 Sting Competition is at now. I'm still waiting for SR pedal dust caps which are en-route from Australia, and NTKK snakebelly tires which are on their way from England.  I will eventually replace the brake cables (not the housings) and I'm in search of a Weinmann 1024 front caliper which is what it came with.  I also have a Haro Type 2 number plate coming to match the one that I brought it home with when I was 5.  Any thoughts on further improvements?

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

And here's my 1980 Mini Scrambler which I learned to ride a two-wheeler on before getting the Sting Competition.  This bike is almost 100% original minus the inner tubes and chain.  Even the tires are original although cracking a bit.  I might have the wheels re-laced with new spokes, but that's way down on the list.  I'm amazed at how well the seat and grips cleaned up!

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

Here's an addition to this.  I was over at my parents house again, and my dad says "You know, you have another handlebar in the garage..." When I originally got the Sting Comp, the dealer put a blue V bar setup on it because it was smaller and fit me better at the time.  He had also installed the original Finish Line grips on that bar.  I guess we swapped out the V bars for the stock handlebars when i got taller and I never thought of the V bars again....but here they are, with 41 year old Finish Line grips!!!  I've been scrubbing them with Simple Green under warm water....is there any way to rejuvenate these at all?  I have a repop set of finish line grips on order, but would be amazing to be able to use the OG's!  Should I consider using the V bars vs the ones that were stock?

Thanks guys. So he only has a front brake on it now. Any leads on where to get a nice set of mounts for a V brake setup? Not sure side pull caliper is an option since no where to mount without modifying the frame which he is not trying to do.
