Glad you like them.  I did polish them first, but that’s actually just Duplicolor paint followed by clear coat.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Slowly restoring (12 months in the making!) my brothers spray bombed 1987 Mongoose decade. I finished the fork and the bars and still have the frame to go.   I bead blasted the parts, primed with a 2k epoxy primer, wet-sanded the primer with 800 grit paper, applied color using Montana Can acrylic spray paint, applied a 2k clear coat, then wet-sanded after it cured with 1500 grit and then polished it to the final finish with a rubbing compound, polish, and wax. So many steps!  I’m not painting a frame for a long time.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Because of the color? It is close to the Maui Blue.   I was looking for something between the Mongoose Malibu Mint (which was the bikes original color) and the Laguna Blue the Decade also came in in 1987.

If anyone is interested, this is the paint I used:

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Bored, decided to pull this GT frame off the wall and piece it together, sort of a test run before cleaning it up and painting it.

Wish I had Angelo’s powder capabilities. cool

I still don't have the oven to do a frame set, the first thing I buy for my new shop will be a big oven.

Tabs were busted on this weird style freewheel so I welded a socket to it and used my big dog impact gun on it. Spun off pretty easy

I was going to grind the welds off and keep the socket but I think it's going on the shelf of shame as is to remind me not to do stupid things

That may have been the stock FW on a GT Ricochet Trials bike, which had that exact wheel.

That blue looks good.
I tried some of that Montana GOLD brand Light Blue. It was darker then I was looking for. Ended up using Rust-oleum oasis blue.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

That oasis blue is nice. Those parts came out very nice.

Maybe my pictures made the color look lighter. It’s So hard to tell the actual color in artificial light.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

I haven't had much shop time but those are a few things I knocked out recently.  I will be slowing down on resto work for a bit while a build my new house. I will have a temp shop setup at my mother's garage but it will be bare bones. I built this cabin on my new land to live in while the house build is happening, this may turn into a dedicated shop when im moved in to the new place. 8 days from ground to water tight building, one man show, lol.
