At least 3 other items on that bike qualify as a "Bad idea" IMO

"Everyone who knows the Texans, or who has heard of them, would naturally conclude that they never would submit to be disarmed. Any government that would attempt to disarm its people is despotic; and any people that would submit to it deserves to be slaves!"

Steering wheels for BMX bikes.
My Dad got my sister and I one each in the very early 80's, like 1982-83 or something.
My sister put it on her dragster and I put it on my Madison.
Hers was red, mine was black.
Could never get the hang of it and they looked and felt stupid.
One came up for sale around 5-6 years ago and I could've bought it just for nostalgia but I never did.
Oh well.

you mean these from   Huffy steering wheel for bicycles

Not that one Freek, although............
If I could find a pic of them I'd show you all.

I remember waisting my money on these the grip locks were agony if your hand or wrist dared touch them and the chain guard were just stupid cant even find pic of original ones they were that bad also z rims iconic I know but that ACS add where there bending them to the max meant a free for all when someone had a go of your bike spokes would all come loose

Man I used to love flexing my z rims with kickouts! No prob truing my wheels every week. Alloys would always bend when you hit potholes or popped curbs. I liked Tuffs but they were kinda heavy. Z rims were awesome!

Those condom things for the bottom bracket to stop gunk getting in there...seemed to let water and crud in but not out so that your BB bathed in rusty muddy water full of gravel and bits of old shopping carts etc......

The Mushroom Cap. It worked great for me on my one piece cranks. Dirt lot riding would foul bb's every day and everyday we rode dirt lots. Kept the dirt out. I guess if you like riding in mud or left your bike out in the rain, water could seep in but my ride always slept next to my bed.
