My 2022 Buildoff Builds Thread - ALL MIDSCHOOL HARO

I’ve seen a few other members having threads like this, thought I’d join in on the fun cool

This year is only my second time entering in the buildoff, and I’m just looking forward to having fun and participating again, I know none of these are going to win anything lol

So far, I’ve got three builds entered, and I actually intend on finishing all of them! tongue lol One of them is mostly finished already as of last night, so it shouldn’t be too bad to finish the other two. I’m considering entering a fourth just so I can max out on my entries, but I have no plans for a fourth build right now so I have no idea what it would be.

Here are the frames I have entered at this point:

2003 Haro M6 Master

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/b8ba40a7-1b58-4b91-97d1-4033a9fcebae611005e443.jpeg

2003 Haro M6 Master: I entered this guy in the FS class, but now I’m thinking maybe I should have just entered it into the budget build class with my other two… oh well. I got this frame on a recent trade with rcsnipe2000 (great guy to deal with!). This is also the build that I basically finished last night. Really stoked to have a flatland ride again. Just need to tweak a few things on it, I’ll show some progress photos later on this thread.

2002 Haro Mirra 540 Air

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/975d06ae-0e0f-412d-990f-3368d3acf5f161122051c0.jpeg

2002 Haro Mirra 540 Air: My second entry this year, and first entry in the Budget Build class. Mirra 540 Air frame that kcdirtbro54 PIF’d me back at the end of 2018/beginning of 2019 and I’m finally getting around to having the parts I want for it. I got the frame for cost of shipping pre-pandemic, I was able to grit blast it myself at work before I left my last job in June, and I plan to paint it myself to keep costs down (wish me luck on that). I’d say that’s pretty budget friendly!

2005 Haro F4

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/a86dc8a6-d8c1-497b-a815-5008aafaa74461166fe35e.jpeg

2005 Haro F4: Last but not least, I’m getting this frame in another trade with rcsnipe2000 (did I mention he’s a good guy to deal with?) and I plan on building it up with a bunch of newschool and midschool rider parts to turn it into my new street-beast daily rider lol It’s also entered into the Budget Build class, so we’ll see how that turns out.

As I mentioned, I’ll be updating this thread with progress photos and such. I may even ask for opinions on certain parts and whatnot. So, be sure to check back smile Thanks for stopping by cool

Re: My 2022 Buildoff Builds Thread - ALL MIDSCHOOL HARO

Alright, let’s get to those progress photos of the M6, shall we?

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/034714ec-64d3-49d7-a2d6-88d7cfea53c260d4dff0cb.jpeg

I started out by cleaning up the frame as best I could, mocked it up with a front clip I never ended up using, and began slowly sticker bombing.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/42e1099f-b0b5-40a8-8ca5-4726192ebb2960d4e01d1a.jpeg

Then I lucked out scoring this wheelset on a WTB thread I had posted on here. 3/8th in rear, 14mm in front? I made it work lol

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/5caaad8a-eeab-41d8-9b00-995601b9eb9461131ddb18.jpeg

Here you can see I’ve added the cool Odyssey 99er seat and got some color matched Odyssey tires to roll around on.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/d44e653e-dd5f-4a01-bb2d-dcc5cf4f97c66114434ba4.jpeg

Finally ditched the other front clip for some parts I kept on the build. More stickers have appeared… including my “custom” reversed M7 downtube decal on an M6 lol Also, check out the NOS Ground Rounds on the rear cool

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/3c785a7d-e017-4163-8998-84d8dba6389b60fb42c1a9.jpeg

A little bit closer…

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/231770/3a70199b-3a3c-419c-95f6-b86be254f6c661163be183.jpeg

And here’s the almost finished build. Not my ideal flatland build honestly, but I love it at the same time. Built it with lots of rider/survivor parts, kept it in line similarly to how I had my old loogie green Master built back in the day and used to ride down at the tennis courts in my rinky dink hometown that just happened to have one other kid who was into flatland as well big_smile Way different bike, but brings back a lot of those memories.

The upper gyro cable was the shortest one I had and it’s STILL too long. I’m going to have to look into getting a shorter one or maybe just using a Pr1mo Pervert or similar set up.

Also still looking for some front red anno Ground Rounds to match my rears hmm

I took this thing for a ride with an old chain on it at first after I had finished it, but that chain was definitely no longer usable I found out. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the solid white chain on it at first, but I kind of like it now. Normally I’m not a big fan of the solid color chains. I may change it later on, but cool with it for now at least cool

I had considered a sparkly red Pr1mo Hemorrhoid instead of the 99er seat as well, but stuck with the 99er seat. What do you all think? smile

Edit: I opted for the sparkly red Pr1mo Hemorrhoid seat cool

I’m glad you can appreciate the midschool as well big_smile

Didn’t know I could swap classes, thanks for the info! I think I’ll keep the M6 in FS for now at least. If I change my mind, I’ll be sure to do it before voting starts lol I hope it catches on too!

I’m hoping to get some kind of glittery, sparkly blue paint for it, hope I can find something like what I’m envisioning cool

Thanks for subscribing smile

A few more shots of the M6 cool

This is the third M6 I’ve built in my time, this is my favorite of the builds so far, and I really regret getting rid of the other two… so this is a keeper for sure cool

Re: My 2022 Buildoff Builds Thread - ALL MIDSCHOOL HARO

Lol I noticed while blasting and was just now reminded: there’s something rolling/rattling around somewhere inside the 540 frame tubes, almost like someone lost a ball bearing in it somewhere… anyone got any tips on getting something like that out? hmm Or do I just get some weird percussive music along with my Mirra rides forever now? lol

I’m thinking the 540 Air will be the last to finish. The F4 should come together quickly and nicely cool

Re: My 2022 Buildoff Builds Thread - ALL MIDSCHOOL HARO

Damn Dude! That M6 brings back a whole bunch of memories. Funny thing is, my mate never had one! The build was pretty similar actually Red/Gum Tyres, 99er, Grip Rings (Not Biz, they were Red from a shop in Europe) Standard Hand Grenades, KHE Dolan Alloy Bars, lots & lots of goodies!
He had a Red Fly Bikes Micromachine pretty sure the exact same sticker in the same place as pic 1!

Looking forward to seeing the Mirra & F4 completed! I cant stand those Forks on the F4 though!! They're evil lol.

Awesome about the Micromachine cool yeah there were a few Fly Bikes stickers on it when I got it.

I’m looking forward to I as well! I actually plan on using a Premium fork with the F4 I think, instead of the OG fork because I don’t plan to run front brakes on it. big_smile

Probably welding slag… depends on where it is I’d try to shake it out of the head tube or bottom bracket if I you can.  Some frames this era had holes through those areas some don’t.  Might have to give it a nickname lol

I tried that for a while already to no avail. I think what I really need to do is to figure out exactly what tube it’s in and go from there. rolllol

I made a shortened upper gyro cable for the M6 with an old cable and some Odyssey Knarps. Probably could have gone even a tad shorter still, but it looks a lot better and feels a lot better than the floppy-ass cable I had on before lol I had considered getting a Pr1mo Pervert style set up, but I don’t think I have a way of getting it to not rub against the bars hmm

I may have a rear wheel. Probably black Haro hub though.

Also, IF I can get a rear chrome Alex Supra-E Pro wheel to go with my front, I’ll use that wheelset on the 540 Air instead of the Haro Heffers I have cool

Totally fine, hub isn’t too important as long as I can put a freewheel on it smile I’ll DM ya

Edit: STILL LOOKING cool

Didn’t get as far on the F4 this morning as I was hoping to, I was working on the Sport in the background and ran into some issues with the brakes lol

Ended up using an Eastern fork instead of the Premium fork because I liked the offset a little better. Haro headset, Premium stem, Premium handlebars, Haro seat post clamp, Fusion seat post, Haro Mirra Pro seat.

I think I might be able to get this one together without spending much more $$$ if any, so hope that stays true tongue

Still undecided on the Plytes or Multisurfaces for tires 🤔

I like all the custom touches on the red Master — it’s a rider’s bike fosho cool

That blue F4 is gonna be sweet and is looking cleeeean so far.

I’m still impressed you’ve got this many coming together all at once big_smile
