Added a few more parts. Ashtabula stem, early Araya 7b's with Sunshine front hub and Shimano Type-B coaster brake rear. New Kenda Knobbys and D.I.D chain.

A factory red frame? That's a keeper. Hit CL and pick up a $50 High Sierra from 1985 or so and build a killer cheap neighborhood cruiser.

That Scrambler's coming along nicely smile

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

King Sting is full chromo, hand brazed, made of the same tubing as the mini sting and sx2000/sting comp. The collegiate, depending on the year will either and old school electro-forged battle tank (think Varsity) but with 26 x 1 3/4" Schwinn wheels requiring Schwinn specific tires or after 1984 a lugged frame. The king was meant to be a top-dog 26 BMX racer, but by the time they got it to market they added a 5-speed version and sold it as an All Terrain Bicycle, BMX cruiser classes transitioned to 24", and it was ridiculously expensive (second highest price bike Schwinn sold) so by the time they added the taller 21" 10-speed frame in '81 the writing was on the wall.

I've always thought of the King as Schwinn's Edsel- the marketing decisions made sense at the design phase, but by the time it made it to market it was too expensive, it's market had evaporated, it was released during a big recession, and on top of all that Schwinn closed the Chicago factory which made it.
