Wouldnt be surprised at outright theft. Since the pandemic began, my primary mail carrier became a temp. Someone to fill in. Guy doesnt even wear a usps outfit. I had a package sent to me by a good friend. It was packed up very well. Opened my box to find the packaging empty. Talked to my local post office and was told that many of my neighbors have complained about this man as well. Yet he is still delivering my mail. I came home yesterday to find my water bill laying on the ground at the base of my mailbox. I plan to set up my camera and record this shady ass dude doing his shit at my mailbox.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised!

Right? I was starting to wonder if it was just me and I expect people to pack like I do?

Or just throw a set of wheels with exposed axles in a box and let’s see what can happen over a 5 day trip.

Should work out great -______-

Not bike related, cheap air hammer bits. Post Office said the packaging probably had sharp edges and it ripped it open / fell out and they would put it in their system look for the item and or if it shows up in the lost / found mail area, but I get the feeling they probably won’t find it. sad

I miss the days people used proper boxes and a decent amount of padding around it. With the high shipping costs people seem to really skimp on packing worse than ever.

I had the same exact thing happen a couple years ago with 2 spindles (a Sugino/Redline 400 & a 401 Flight double dimple) that I got on eBay from a guy in the UK. The spindles must have just been thrown in the bubble pouch. I did receive the pouch, but it was ripped and empty.  I did go through the process of having the post office search for them. They never did find them.

Bummer, especially when it's nice BMX parts!

My hopes are low on the post office finding these, but the seller seems easy to work with so far, so I'll see how it goes.

Re: WORST packing jobs! Send it!

Don't be stupid roll

It clearly has to be JB weld lol

Spoke to the guy. Said he will send a new axle. I just had to get the hardware off, and they had used air tools. So that was a fight and a half. Had to grind it flat so I could lock grips on it.

Re: WORST packing jobs! Send it!

Nope.

I just needed the hardware off, as it will be specific to the wheel. The axle is generic, but sod's law denotes they are only available in the USA roll

Guy is going to see if he has an axle for it. It seems to be pretty generic.

Edit. If I get totally stuck I will grab an old 14mm axle and send it off to my buddy with the lathe. He can then make it into that, given it will have plenty of meat on it.

There’s no value you applied here, you’re here to argue like you do. Aleruncatbmx and Dutchbmx you should both be banned. I don’t think either of you positively promote here. You both muddy up every thread you see.

As an update to this, the post office hasn't contacted me back and they haven't shown up, so pretty sure I won't see those bits which I suspected anyway. On the flip side the seller sent another set to me and they arrived today. I hadn't even asked for a new set yet giving USPS some time to perhaps find them even if unlikely, but the seller offered, as I'm sure they knew they would never turn up, so the seller was easy to deal with.

When I worked at Amazon sort facility we found a few empty bubble mailers every day.
The items that fell out where at the bottom of the 4'x4'x7' palleted cardboard box that had contained 100's of bubble mailers/small boxes.

Hate to do this because the shipper is on here and gave me a good deal on an almost complete bike, but we can all do better than this.

Re: WORST packing jobs! Send it!

SE has upped there packing game, the axles now come with very big protection pads that keeps the axles from perforating the shipping box (which I had on most previous occasions):

This is a bad one on a great EBay score… 86 OG Haro Sport/ terrible packing, but everything looks ok. It was only 2 states away, so I got a little lucky here.
