Binman I love the bar but... when its closed it looks like it has a sad face sad I think the only time your bar may be happy is when it's open and in use smile

If I had a nickel for every time I've been cursed by a puppet I would have 2 nickels.  Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

I couldn’t agree more. A happy bar is an open bar! big_smile

P.S. UK and Ireland pubs are still shut. sad

Ours are open with reduced capacity and some other rules in place and last call at 10pm. It is really nice to go have a pint out of the house after not being able for a few months. Thankfully patio season is on its way and we will be able to do it outdoors soon

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

I still need to get a record deck. I couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted. Want to play my dad's old LPs, as well as buying all of the Radiohead albums.

I didn't have a proper system since I left for the USA in 2000. I finally started building it last year. Took me nearly a year to find all of the stuff I wanted, but got there in the end. I wouldn't exactly call it vintage either so far, but some of it is 20 years old.

Tag Mclaren AV32 (surround sound processor pre amp)
Tag Mclaren 60p (centre, bi amp)
Tag Mclaren 60p (rears)
Tag Mclaren 100p (fronts)

PC running a EVGA NU sound card by Audio Note.

Revel M105 front speakers on Atacama stands
Quad S1 on Target stands (rear)
Linn Centrik centre speaker (on the floor under the TV stand)
Earthquake Couch Potato subwoofer
Lapp power cables with rhodium plated plugs
Tacima mains conditioner
Audioquest Tower interconnects and speaker cables

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

I’m thinking now that I’ve got a couple cool bikes I could probably trade for a nice turntable/amp/receiver/speaker setup...

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

Happy Friday!

Lots of cool stuff in this thread! I like the renovation project, kurt!

Only pic on my phone at the moment.. wanted to share.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/273401/resized_20210312_2048206074c4830c.jpeg

Been collection records for about 20 years now.. have had several older systems including old Sanusi quadrophonics and some 4 channel reel to reels.. had an Eico tube ST70 that about set my house on fire..

Within the last 5 years I bought a set of paradigm floor standing speaks and a yamaha as500.. tlhad a technics 1200 and a phono tube amp.

Got about 700 records, all mostly minty.. I'm ocd about them, like trading cards...

I will share some pics in a bit.. but thought I would stop by and say hello.. haha

Anyone do discogs?

I recapped the sansui's power supply last year.. rebuilt the crossovers in the speakers and got the spring reverb connections resoldered.. I have he other set of speakers but took up too much space in my den... its a quad amp
Works great!

The real to reel has a channel out but 3 channels work, just wish it wasnt the left channel on a 2 track recording, sucks..

My dad bought this setup when he was stationed in Japan...

Wow, I guess that is why I see so many pub sheds being built and showcased on youtube.

Very cool cabinet by the way.

I have a big shed/den coming in about six weeks myself! Won’t put it on YouTube though. tongue

Pub beer gardens reopened yesterday but only in England. Scotland and Wales I’m not sure about but we’re still closed in Northern Ireland roll Right in the middle of a freezing arctic blast of weather! lol It was snowing here yesterday.

Starting off the day with a little vintage punk... Since I’ve been working from home for the last year I think the best part is that I get to listen to my records all day, everyday.... And so do my neighbors...

Yeah, I picked up a pre-amp to use with my modern receiver in case the sansui ever goes down. It sounds like shit. Night and day difference between my Sansui and my Sony lol

Edit- actually what you’re seeing in that picture is the box to my Discwasher lol But the pre amp is right behind it..

Nice!! Yes, I have a yamaha as500 running tv, Bluetooth and turntable, its about 8 years old.. it does the job, but its not my Sansui.. I feel you there... I think a more warm and robust amp is in my future.. The phono tube amp helps get some of that warm tone back.

Nice setup and cool room. Love the bowie board.

Exactly!

It’s amazing how warm and rich a tube amp sounds compared to a solid state. I’ve considered picking one up. The MC240 I want is expensive, and I know the extra care you have to take with a tube regarding warming up, and maintenance can be a pain- but the sound is sooooo good!

Thanks man! That Bowie board is my favorite. Jason Lee is rad and David Bowie is one of my favorite artists. I named my dog Ziggy Stardust lol
