I like the first set up better, I think it looked more vintage. They sell mini bike shocks on ebay for 1980 Honda CT 70`s that are very rigid, I had gotten a set for mine because the originals were squishy, the new ones raised the bike a couple inches and I could also carry a passenger without bottoming out. Just my 2-cents, still awesome work!

I agree that I lime the looks of the chrome shock, but it was unusable that way. The spring needs to be an actual monoshock spring with a progressive rate of at least 800 pound per inch. I have my eye on a couple of them on Ebay.

I tested the chain tension through all the travel and since the arc that the rear swing arm travels in is not that big, the chain stays on an hasn’t fallen off at all.

BTW, did you try the big shock with the spring adjuster all the way to the end of the threads?
