Re: 2021 RL20II's, show us what you got

They are missing 1 very hard to come by item for this build...and we all know that is the elusive Elina flyte tech seat! Hopefully they will be able to get some made in black, white, and red as these seats are crucial to this bike build...and for that matter they should make a couple hundred extras so we original 20 II owners can use them to ride on so we don't scratch up our og seats. big_smile

Have a Radberry on order and I'm excited to get it.  I'm thinking of going similar to RL's build in July 85 BMXA.  I've attempted this build in the past but gave up after no luck finding a white Peregrine seat.  Maybe this will be different this time around

I was hoping they come in a fancy box to just have for display. But heard the box is generic so I’m going to build and ride it as it should be;)

Re: 2021 RL20II's, show us what you got

Another detail that shouldn't be overlooked is the original cali red is an 86 and as pictured the new cali red retro has 84-85 rear frame standers. They got it right with the hazard and radberry models but since they went through all of the trouble of trying to make these identical to the originals... that is an error that should be corrected and not just pushed through before the fabrication is completed. Alot of us museum members are critical on details...And honestly this detail could cause buyers to shy away from the Calli Red Model Unless Corrected...
I hope you guys are listening, as this would be a deal breaker for me as a buyer spending $1,500 on a reproduction model.

They are sold out and Cali Red went first so I don’t think it bothered a lot of people. I thought I remember reading somewhere that the Cali Reds would have the 86 frame standers.

Yes,  I haven't really heard anyone complaining about the Cali Red frame standers......yet!  tongue

I read somewhere,  that some of the 1985 frame features, like the solid brake line guide and the straight frame standers, rolled over to 1986.

I have seen many 86 RL20II's with the 85 features.

Re: 2021 RL20II's, show us what you got

I'm confused about this 85 vs 86 frame stander question - I thought all RL-20 IIs had the integral rounded standers in the back - a feature they adopted on the 86 RL-20.  The picture of the red bike Linn is standing next to has the standers I'd expect to see on the red RL-20 II. Which look like the one in the 3D drawings.

He's talking about the bracket INSIDE of the frame standers, not the standers themselves.

He's talking about the bracket INSIDE of the frame standers, not the standers themselves.

Correct.
See how in the 1st pic the inside bracket support on the framestander on the 84-85 goes straight back all the way...vs the second pic of my 86 that was originally Cali Red where it has a 90° bend on the support.

Re: 2021 RL20II's, show us what you got

Got it - doesn't bother me.  These aren't original bikes, and anyone buying one (in the future) will know that.

I do second the request for the Elina seat.  Or Peregrine.  Anything besides a Dominator.

I "third", "fourth", and "fifth" the requests for Elina Flyte Techs!!! neutral

How would those get remade anyway? Is Elina still around? Did Redline have anything to do with Elina back in the day? I don't know the history on Elina... wink

Also the Peregrine seats look ok, but the Elina's look MUCH BETTER! imo.
