Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect
Thanks for the comments. Let me explain. I bought the frame and fork from a seller out of Washington and it is originally a "TEAM Z". The decals was shot and I could not find a TEAM Z replacement. I cleaned the chrome on the frame and fork. Real parts are not to hard to come by but are really expensive or I just didn't want to deal with overseas shipping. I used parts that I had and bought parts that gives the old school feel. Also managed to get a broacher from my local Schwinn bike shop where I got my first Team Z back in 1984
- 1983 Schwinn Predator Team Z frame & fork with new decals
- Flite Schwinn padset
- Tange AW 27 headset
- SR 170mm polished crankset
- MCS sprocket
- Chromoly chainring bolts
- YST bottom bracket
- MKS BM7 pedals
- KMC Z410 chain
- DK Chamberian V-handlebars
- Profile Racing Lockjaw stem
- Dia-Compe MX122 brake lever
- Dia-Compe brake cable clear housing
- Dia-Compe MX901 brakes (I think they were front brakes before)
- Kuwahara grips
- Kuwahara seat
- Chrommoly layback seatpost with Tuf Neck decal
- Dia-Compe MX 2piece seatpost clamp
- 7X style rims with Suzue style sealded hubs with decals. From BMX Guru on sale for ($149/set)
- Tioga Comp III tires 20X2.125" & 20X1.75"

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect
Cool little find from another member here. Shaker was kind enough to I.D. it for me as a very early '95 XS3. The weep holes are odd, they're usually centered on the end caps.
In search of Schwinn ENF decals, the later red style.

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect
Wow that's sharp. Early black label livery is rare enough, but one with decals that intact is obscene. Early small leg forks too.
Technically this became the XS-2 (full cromo, 20.5" TT) but I think they just called this the 'Expert' frame at the time. The XS 1/2/3 nomenclature came with the decal change and the introduction of the cromo main triangle and hi-ten rear triangle XS-3. Confusingly, they moved the red accents to the partial cromo XS-3 and the full cromo XS2 became blue so it gets a little confusing all these decades later.
Great find.

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect
Yeah, the early XS model names are pretty confusing. I'm on the hunt for an early XS Pro, which oddly enough is a 21.25" top tube.
In search of Schwinn ENF decals, the later red style.

Digging this...
I have a black one in my storage room very similar, maybe a little more Patina. I need to get it out and give it some love. I think mine is 72 or 73. A set of Big Honkin Bars would be perfect for it.
