Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose

Good day gentlemen.

I Love these bikes. I haven’t ridden BMX in 20 years, I tend to ride ridiculously expensive full suspension mountain bikes these days. Anyway I found one of these earlier this year at my local Walmart way up here in northern Alberta Canada. It was just sitting there in the box. It was love at first sight. I went home and went down the internet rabbit hole on these little yellow bikes. A day later it was mine. I rode it for about a month, Then stupidly traded it to some kid for a new Haro. The new bike feels strong and light but it just doesn’t have the same pizazz (and these new bikes feel too long and low) I made a mistake..

Anyway I wanted to let all the Canadian members know, Walmart has these back online for $248 right now. I just placed an order. Won’t be letting this one go.

Has anyone been riding theirs? And if so how hard? How are the components/frames holding up?

Cheers.

Not sure if anyone has

the frame & fork is fine if your not heavy.... but, the cranks, sprockets, pedals, stem and the handle bar must be replace if you want high performance...

and the sealed bearing alloy mags are cool and smooth, but, it's brick, this bike weight around 32lbs stock, if you upgrade major components, you can drop 5lbs easy.. when this bike is 27lbs, it's very fast...

this is justin posey, when mongoose release the stranger things mongoose, they did a promo (at the track) to show the bike (frame & fork) is capable if you put the right after market part

Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose

Thanks for the info. I definitely won’t be catching that kind of air lol. I’m talking about curbs and light skate park duty.
Your bikes look great btw.

I usually stick to the replace and upgrade it when I break it program

thank you, the silver/blue stm is my friend's, i upgrade the bike for him and ship to ny when it's done...

the all black stm is mine, it's upgraded with full sealed bearings headset & bb, the bike is night and day difference when upgrade from looseball to sealed bearings...

the first thing you will break should be the stem, it just do not have the clamping power for adult rider, then your pedal will break, because it's weight capacity is for 100lbs children, then you will bend the crank, then the sprocket, then the chain and then the freewheel...

smart way is replace everything before you break them, this way, you can save the parts, you can either resell them or keep it.. if you break them, it's trash.

Yup, that looks like a huge upgrade.
What would I be searching for if I was to look for those sealed bearing sets for head set and cranks
