Re: Anyone catch this FB post from Redline

not really but what gets me is the BS lip service they spew.

Like them saying the prices today have pushed many away from being able to enjoy, blah, blah, blah..
then have the gaul to offer a very limited number run that cost as much as an original. roll

come on, man.. you can find a rl20ii frame, fork, bars and a sprocket for 1700 bucks or very close to that price.

hahaha....these tools didnt even include a 100 set of flights for that crazy ass price.

Many people have the "do as I say,not what I do" mentality! For 1700  this frame set should have been made in the USA,and nowhere else.

oh i know. and they can, its their money. more power to them.

but willing to bet you could get one of these made 100% custom for the 1700 or but a old 80s version.

to simple to just hit buy it now. pay for the remake then hunt down a OS that might have wear and tear. IE not NOS or new.

Re: Anyone catch this FB post from Redline

Sooner or later the demand for these RL20ii's will drop as us 80's guys get too old to care about buying these.  The guys 10 years younger than us could care less about an old 80's bike frame.

Re: Anyone catch this FB post from Redline

Bicycle Retailer article which contains some good chunks of information to confirm from an industry-related site things which have been discussed before:

https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industr … 8Bxlc1Ki00

The limited-edition replica kit of the 1980s-era Redline RL 20 II Pro Styler will be manufactured by Kastan at his factory in Mexico.

Pizzi said Kastan has the original frame engineering drawings, which are being digitized.

The kits will be manufactured in the first quarter 2021 and available in the second quarter.

Kastan will make 300 kits for the North American market and 100 for the Australia and New Zealand market.

He said there are no immediate plans to continue the collaboration with Kastan beyond the Pro Styler project.

He said Redline also is likely to offer other replica models in larger quantities, to be manufactured at larger factories overseas and available to dealers at wholesale.

Question....

So has this 'kastan factory' been making bikes all along? because the kastan name has not been on the downtube
of a bmx bike for well over 20+ years? does this factory make redline airplane stuff and a small corner in
the back is going to make some bikes again?

these remakes not coming from overseas is cool though...but didnt the original 20ii come from overseas?

Re: Anyone catch this FB post from Redline

I’d rather they be made in Taiwan vs. Mexico due to Manufacturing experience With bicycles. However, that being said for the asking price the fact they are not going to be handmade in the USA is pretty disappointing.

hmm You obviously have never really looked at the Mexico made Kastan stuff. It's top notch. Give me a few and I'll take some pics of the 3 I have.

This frame set would have been better off if it were made in Taiwan! not only will the delivery times be much quicker, but the overall price of the frame set would be roughly 900-1000.
