Hey all, I have been reading through posts trying to figure numbers out in my own although I'm getting back and forth a bit on the circled 4. Is it a line the frame was produced on or what? Thanks for the help! https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-image … f6473e.jpg
That's a common question. Presumably it is a production line or a quality stamp or something like that. No one seems to know for sure.
Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86. Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly. There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

That's a bit of an oddity, but 2364 (4) is likely an early (February) 1983 Pro (18.5" TT).
Do you know what it looked like before it was refinished? Sometimes old decals may help with dating...
I'm no expert on the subject, so, expect others to either confirm or dispute my opinion.
Looks like an '83 to me too. I wonder if it is a restamp.

Re: GT Serial Number Info
SY6A000250 S for the factory. Y for the production line. 6 for the year 1996. A for the 1'st month January.
If I follow this for the GT Dyno VFR I just picked up last week with my SN of SY4I07514 it'd be a 1994 Sept. Am I reading correctly?

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Hi everybody, new guy here.
Picked up what I believe is an 85 Mach One, all original except wheels and grips. The serial number is stamped on the bottom bracket "GT00308". Nothing on the drop outs. This seems inconsistent with the info on this thread. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Hey,
Would really like some help identifying this GT, bought from UK eBay around 15 years ago.. just the frame no forks unfortunately. After reading a bunch of GT threads I think it's a GT Pro from 82 made for a UK team rider?

Re: GT Serial Number Info
Definitely UK Made(GT On Dropouts) And Serial # Not The Same As US Made. People Have Referenced These Frames-Haven't Seen A Recent Thread About Them. Although No Pics Available-'What have I got, GT PRO??' Thread By jimmyp Is One Thread Mentioning The Subject. Maybe 2/84 Ser # Date....Just A Guess On My Part.

Hi guys, any help on my serial question above?
Also, I have GT Stamped HL MX 51 bars, they say WS 85, does that mean they are 1985? If so, what did the come on?
All I Can Offer-Is That It Looks Like Japan Made(GT Had Some Stuff Made After 84) As It's Got Ser# On Bot Brkt. Holes On Drops Are Mid-84 And Newer. The Forks Have Windows On Drops(Another Post 1984 Feature). So The Bars MAY Be Correct For The Frm/Frk. Hopefully Others With More Knowledge Will Chime In.
