Re: I LOST MY BEST BRO PLEASE READ

I read your post and your original post and it really hits home man. I lost my best friend since childhood 9 years ago now. Toughest thing is missing being able to talk about moments that only you two shared. Talks while you're both under the hood of a car or someone almost wiping out on a rock during the last bike ride. You can tell people the stories over and over but its just not the same. A part of you has died with your friend and I really believe that for people in our situation, the wound never heals.

I recently restored my friend"s original Hutch Expert Racer that he rode as a kid. His wife was kind enough to give it to me after his death. A bike that I helped him build after we took BART to Oakland's Hank and Frank to buy the frame and fork almost 30 years ago. It currently sits right here in my living room alongside my own restored GT. The two bikes forever linked in my memory to remind me that the half of me that died is coupled with a half that lived. As long as I look on those bikes, my friend Ace lives on and we continue to RIDE!

You honor your friend with this post and these memories. I know it hurts man. I wish it got easier. Keep on Ridin!!!!

I remember the Hank and Frank in Oakland big_smile JP and I both grew up living in northern California with cars and bmx. I remember one time when we got the bright (stupid) idea to ride our bikes from Fairfield to Vacaville and back in the middle of summer in 1989 JP rode a 1982 GT 24" cruiser that I have and I rode my 1980 GJS which I still have also. That was a LONG ride just to get to Vacaville and of course we had no water, when we got into Vacaville JP got a flat and we had no tools arrrgh so we walked to the store bought a patch kit and some sodas and went to a parking lot with some shade, pulled the tire off the rim, patched the hole, walked the bikes to a gas station to air up the tire and continued our ride. We eventually made it back to Fairfield at the end of the day whooped and tired "what a great day" big_smile

Re: I LOST MY BEST BRO PLEASE READ

I like it. Another nice build Pan.

planetbicycle@yahoo.com

Would love to find my old Dirt Bike.  It was stolen in Pompano Beach, Florida in about 1996.  It's a '92 with the block graphics on a Green frame.  Pitchforks, Slam bars, King Headset, GT (DK-style) stem and GT/Profile cranks.  Superlace hubs.  Would really love to put this back in my collection.

Re: I LOST MY BEST BRO PLEASE READ

Working on the oldest known S&M Widowmaker today one of JP's favorite bikes remembering that he was the first member to really expose " the factory painted widowmakers" it's been eight years since his passing , not a day has gone by that he wasn't thought about.  An amazing builder of bmx, cars and motorcycles.  His bikes were admired here on the musem and his motorcycles were featured in easy riders and the horse magezines multiple times. Smart beyond his years and a kind soul that would do anything for anybody. R.I.P. my friend
