Re: 1980 Team Murray

I'm pretty sure this is the same bike my neighbor had. I remember there being a warning label on the bike, saying that it wasn't intended for motocross or stunt use. lollol Does this bike have the same warning label? Just trying to find out if this is the same bike or not.

Re: 1980 Team Murray

What a sweet score, I had that exact bike when I was a kid; got it for Christmas.  I road it for a 5 years until I saw the 85 GT World Tour, and had to have that.

Re: 1980 Team Murray

I had one just like this in the early 80’s. Before this one I had a Schwinn Tornado.lol. I had forgotten that I had that Tornado until I saw a picture of it today. I didn’t like my Murray. All of my friends had GT’s, Redlines, Haro’s, Mongoose’s and Diamondbacks. But in 1984 or 85 my Aunt gave me my cousins Torker 280X. She said he didn’t ride it anymore. I had finally gotten a Chrome Bike with Hand Brakes and Freewheel. I still have that Torker in my Attic. I need to get it down and clean it up. It’s in good condition. Original everything. Even the tires are original. The only thing I did to it was paint the hand brake yellow. I know it has some rust where the top, down and head tube meet at the T. I’ll post a photo of it when I get it down. I rode that thing everywhere until I got my driver’s license and got a into Mountain Biking. Does anyone know why Torker only put one hand brake on the 280X? I know they put 2 on the Torker 2. Seems like every other bike had 2. Thanks for posting the picture of the Murray. I have been looking for one every now and then. If my recollection is right the Top Tube got narrower toward the seat post. Is that correct? Thanks again.

That’s the one. Mine had a label on it saying that. lol
