Re: S&M hoarders unite

Hi all,  I posted an s&m challenger on eBay today that was a friend's of mine.  We all rode s&ms back in the day.  Mainly Holmes and dirt bikes.  This was the only challenger in town.  My brother owned a blue mad dog with a low serial number we bought at Rockford nationals.  I hear it is still floating around my home town but was repainted.  I found my old plate I thought I would show off.  Tim fuzzy hall wrote the passage on it.  It belonged to Jeremy verhulst (vern Inc...?) and he traded it to me for a blue and yellow Ugp plate.  He used this plate at a king of dirt contest. Notice Chris on the go sticker.

I would guess 2000-01 due to the stickers and raw forks and it doesn’t have the STA style bridge gusset behind the head tube so it can’t be deep into the 2000’s... not sure when that started exactly.

But that’s a cool SN it almost looks like “DIRTBI”.  SN’s don’t provide manufacturing dates on S&M’s

You might be right. 2000/2001 looks likely given others in the museum.

Yes the SN is really weird. Like  you say it spells "DIRTBI" - that's too much of a coincidence. Surely that's not just random chance?

Just got these LTF decals.  Does anyone have pics of these decals on a frame?  I havent found any.  Also, what colors did these come on?

Small sticker is for the seatpost mast , big sticker for the top tube. Those were for chrome frames.

My raw LTF came with these decals. They weren't on the frame, but were in the box. It was a nice surprise   actually!

My zinc LTF frame has them.  I got the frame used, and the decals were on it when I bought it but I assume they were factory installed.

I’ve got the light colored version of those decals somewhere. My ltf is finished in black.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

All of my chrome LTFs came with those "smoke" decals in the box with the frames. Usually the zinc and raw came with the L.T.F decals on them.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Bought some hubs for some rims I scored awhile back for the Bennett. Still undecided on a lot of things, but making progress.

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Also threw this one together a while ago, don't think I posted any pics. Rides nice, but I still prefer the Slayer

And picked up this frame cheap, has a couple of dents, but it's on the list to get built up

Re: S&M hoarders unite

yikes what a pile of poop my local  bike shop Epic BMX in Westminster CA got in a bunch of the Supreme left over parts. do to a deal threw a rider that works both at S&M and at Epic. any way most parts minus frame, fork, bars and stem are pure wally world junk. Supreme tolled Chris to get the cost per bike down. the test bike / prototype had Profile cranks GT re issue sprocket, re issue  Tioga comp III tires , Profile hubs stainless steel spokes triple wall  chromed rims. he said no we don't build crap bikes.

so Supreme bought the frame, fork stem kits. then went with generic single wall rims  mild steal spokes lose ball hubs, cheap Walmart ish Knock off profile  type crank, Duro Knock off  tires and other crappy parts .

Re: S&M hoarders unite

Freek - something about all that doesn't add up

If S&M sold sold Supreme F/F bars / stem kits its pretty clear they were releasing all effort to influence QC over the components. If S&M wanted to insure it was built to a certain standard it would have been part of the agreement/contract with Supreme on the front end.

And if the parts were so sub-standard in S&M’s eyes why would they be involved in a deal selling them to Epic.
