1982 Redline MX-II

BITD, the fastest bike on the block... and gorgeous, too.

Found this as a frame and fork on eBay, a rusted pile of potential at $60 for both. OG decals identified her as an MX-III, and serial suggested she was likely manufactured in '81 but released in '82 with the newer decal set...so I started there.
Had her powdered white, and searched to the ends of the Earth for a decal sheet. Added a NOS Hatta headset, a show-polished Redline Brute stem, and a NOS set of Redline STR bars - now complete with even the Stu decal on the right! Wouldn't be a Redline without a set of polished Flight cranks and sprocket in 180mm, in this case sporting a NOS set of Skyway Tuff Pedals. NOS Dia Compe 890s for authenticity, and they bring to a halt a set of rehabbed white Z-rims, on which I airbrushed the ACS logo with a little help from a forum member's stencils. Shouldn't that logo have always been on the inside of the rim? Darn right!
Only quip is a slightly crushed brake bridge from BITD...a common sight on these frames. So delicate...which is why this bike gets shelved, never to be ridden, just admired.
Repop vinyl pad set (actually the handlebar pad is authentic)...the top tube now sports a correct, 5-snap pad.
F/F has been sold, now lives in Australia!

Re: 1982 Redline MX-II

Absolutely gorgeous! Pro in every way. Where did you finally track down some MX-III decals?

That has got to be one of the nicest setups I've seen so far.

Wanted (in any condition):  SE Racing --> Anything pre Fuji  |  Comp II type tread fat/skinny tire set in black |   Premier Super BMX helmets

The weapon of America's deadliest mass killer, Timmy McVeigh, was fertilizer. Maybe we should ban bullshit, but that would shut down Washington, DC and all five major TV networks.
