What is your biggest BMX regret?

Tell me your "kick yourself in the ass" stories!  In 1985 my mom bought me a new Haro Sport.  I had that bike until 1998 when I made a trash run with my dad and threw it out in the local dumps.  Blue Sport, turquoise Z-rims, Group 1 cranks, Dia Compe brakes, Schwinn Yo-roller seat, and an extra set of white Skyway tuffs.  Both wheel sets had Haro tires.  5 years later, thanks to the internet I realized what I had done.  God I hate myself for that, LOL

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

Back in the late 80s, I built up a spare bike with extra parts I had laying around, a Black Zeronine frame and forks, Profile box cranks, DX pedals, Araya Arrow rims laced to White GT race lace hubs, DK stem and I think GT bars, Dia-Comp white 901s. I traded it for a Haro Mountain bike frame and fork. mad

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

Loaned out my Schwinn Scrambler Comp to my buddy so he could try racing. It was "stolen " soon after. His dad gave me some money even though it was just a old bike according to them.

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

Not keeping ANYTHING from my BMX's BITD.
My Madison was stolen around 1983 from memory.
I cracked the frame just above my seat post clamp (I'm guessing the seat post was sitting too high) on my Apollo Mk2 attempting to jump up a gutter to impress a girl lol and it was repaired badly and was never the same.
So I hung it in the garage.
There it sat for years until my neighbour needed rims for his bmx bike (this was probably around 1989-90.
Me being a nice guy GAVE him my black Araya 7X's..........sad
Don't know what I was thinking...........
I regret not taking more pics of my BMX bikes BITD.
I'm sure I have more than I can find right now, but I have no idea where they'd be in the photo albums.
I have nothing I can find or use at all of any of my old BMX bikes. sad

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

i guess i got two biggies and many have heard these before.

when i bought my redline 102b frame/fork, i took all the parts off my old webco.
i then set the webco frame and forks on the curb. sad

about 4 months after i bought my proline, was cleaning the chrome and i
noticed the bar pad was leaving little scratches on the top tube chrome..
so i pulled all the pads and threw them in the trash. sad

in my defense, i was a teen and this was in the 80s. so it would be
decades before these things became valuable.

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

Not too many regrets for me I never had anything that nice lol. I still have my 96 Mach one that I bought from a buddy in 98 I think and I have my 92 intercepter that I've had since it was about new. I threw an 87 general hustler in a dumpster in the late 90s but I don't regret it that was the biggest piece of junk I ever rode no offense to the guys that like em but I didn't get it.

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

We've done this and it still hurts lol

1984 NOS gold looptail PK with NOS ACS Z rims (blue) with SE post, bars and a Primo stem and Primo cranks.

I bought it for £300 in London from an old shop, then flipped it in the USA for $400 thinking I'd done well.

Yeah, that was stupid. Two weeks later I looked on Ebay and they were making up to $4k. I bet that guy had a right laugh out of me.

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

My biggest regret?

Buying a fantastic, original finish 83 Quadangle from a fellow collector back in 2005. I didn’t appreciate what I had, wanted it to look ‘better than new’, so I had it stripped and powdered. It still bothers me 15 years later.

Not being able to be there for so many BMX BROTHERS that we've lost.
Coulda helped them be here today. Just a thought.

Heres my profound, life changing statement.
Lifes a bitch..PASS ME A BEER.

They're reacting and that's wonderful. It's better than them sitting there doing nothing. I say make them react - do whatever's in your power to move the audience, and if that's where it is, and there where it is with America, sex and violence, then I say project it.

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

Leaving my National Pro to rust in the rain on the side of my parent's garage upon the start of my love affair with a rust bucket 68 Camaro, at least it was an RS. I then sold my Hutch pro racer frame, fork, and bars for the money to buy Red anadized Moroso value covers and matching air cleaner for a very tired 327 hmmhmmhmm

Re: What is your biggest BMX regret?

leaving my purple 86 Torker 2 360air frame and fork behind my shed at my parents house.  I guess they threw it away.  My brother remembers it sitting there for years.  I moved all my parts to another frame (89 Master) and ignored the Torker.  The Torker rode way better

Never listen to a woman or have her make decisions for you! Maybe perhaps you should ask her to throw away a box of shoes and see what her reaction would be.

My somewhat regret bitd was getting roughly 2 inches off brand new Peregrine Q bars, still have them sitting in the garage as a reminder to never cut bars again.
