Was curious and went and looked at the January 87 bmx plus! And Josh White's is on his top tube like Martin's. However, in the pft test in same issue, it doesn't have one at all.
Really excited to see your bike come together, it has surely been a labor or love, patience, and pocket lol

Pic? Thanks.

I had a good night - found most of the decals and sold some goodies to pay for it. Just need some coin stickers now. Should have some decals by the end of next week.

Re: 1986 MARTIN APARIJO GT PFT REPLICA BUILD

What's the purpose of the broken rear stander and the the 3rd brake lever on Aparijos bike???

I don’t know about the rear stander but the brake lever I believe has to do with bar rides and foot stability. I think if you are being a trick name pedant, a bar ride is done standing on the cross bar while a grip ride is done with your feet on top of the levers and grips. The circle I ran in always called them bar rides but we did them standing on the lever/grip area. I also seem to recall something about people riding their lever(s) more parallel to the ground as a way to make it act like a bit of a platform. I could be wrong about the whole thing since this gimmick was not in common use any longer (1989) when I started riding so this would have been info I got second hand from the older riders in the neighborhood and I’m digging this up from the mental archives of a 30 year old vintage. smile

The previous pages here talk about some tricks with the cut rear stander

This is an awesome replica build. I'm a big GT and Martin fan smile

I remember seeing those pics when they came out in that magazine like it was yesterday smile. I have a huge rubbermade tote full of old freestyle magazines from the early 80's to the early 90's and that mag it in there.

Bitd when I was doing bar ride's. I used brake lever perch's mounted next to my brake lever's.

You can see them in this old pic. These were taken in the winter of 1987 and 1988.

Is your 88 dark blue?  That is a sweet color combo - unique

Electric blue is my favorite blue. It has a white undercoat and really pops. From those old pictures it made me think it was the dark blue that dyno used in 87. Thanks and Awesome you still have it!!

Thank you.  Yes, you can see some of the white undercoat where the blue has worn down on some area's of the frame.

Re: 1986 MARTIN APARIJO GT PFT REPLICA BUILD

I had that electric blue pro compe, got it to “glow” a couple times - there is a hint of day glo in that color.  Also the electric red was the same I believe.  If you ever sell that one you will regret it.  BEAUTIFUL!

Man that thing is dope!  Love it!  So happy to see this replica come to life.  It has been one of my all time faves since I saw it in the pages of BMX Plus BITD.
