Re: Wheels..........Of the day

They are 4 cross. When I got them the spokes were shot. I measured the existing spokes and had them relaced the way they originally were.
I'm not sure why they were laced 4 cross originally. The pattern actually threw me off. I attempted lacing one 3 cross and the spokes were too long...I got frustrated and took them to the shop. Joe's bike shop in Baltimore did a great job.

Oops wrong pair...the redline hubs came like that when I got them. Good eye
Not sure why the 2 cross. 3 cross is the norm I believe.

It could be to lessen the "attack" of the nipples at the rim.  Especially with a deep dish rim and highflange hubs on a small wheel.  I do the same with internally geared hubs.

Would love to find my old Dirt Bike.  It was stolen in Pompano Beach, Florida in about 1996.  It's a '92 with the block graphics on a Green frame.  Pitchforks, Slam bars, King Headset, GT (DK-style) stem and GT/Profile cranks.  Superlace hubs.  Would really love to put this back in my collection.
