Can anyone recommend a person to do this process on a 20inch frame? I don’t realistically have the space to do this and my 2year old manages to get into everything, don’t even want a situation like that to occur so it’s really in my best interest to pay someone or an able company that can do this. Respectable and responsible person or shop, Please and thanks guys & gals!!

Just looking to have the frame and Fork done. Thanks again in advance

Best regards
MJRyan

I live just over the border in MA. I'd be happy to soak your frame for you. smile

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

I just picked up 2 lbs of the Oxalic acid crystals. How much should I use per gallon of water?

The container is 66 quarts and that equals 16.5 gallons.  I don’t fill it to the top so 15 gallons is a good estimate.

1 to 1.5 tablespoons for a 15 gallons of water is a good start.

One page back. Don't be lazy.

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

found a big tub at home depot. plenty long so you can fit a whole frame. bought the acid from Amazon. doing a practice run on some random parts before I toss in the expert racer f/f

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

Another +1 “thank you!” here for this thread, super helpful!!

Partway through de-rustifying a somewhat battered (but still quite rad) ‘91 Haro Ground Master frame and some Profile cranks. Made a big difference just soaking overnight already. Another 12 hours ought to be just enough.

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

This thread is awesome. Just read thru all 25 pages. One thing that's not clear though, hoping someone can chime in.  I saw that people put frames, forks, handlebars, seat posts and chains in. How about bottom brackets and headset parts...    82 mongoose (should be steel right?)?

Thanks!

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

Both will work well.

There are many opinions out there, but really, both can be used safely and remove rust efficiently.

Re: How To Do an Oxalic Acid Bath

^ yea there really is no question to the effectiveness of either one, they will both dissolve rust and leave your chrome shining like new. I also make a baking soda bath to neutralize afterwards

Well, that depends.  If you enjoy cigars, you could get in a couple of those.  Tea or Coffee is always good.  You can never go wrong with some high quality H20.

If you have Mormon-like tendencies, you could make a baby or two.

Maybe you could workout or go for a run.

Really, your options are only limited by your creativity.
