I bought a P17 frame from Bill years ago and never had the chance to build it, until now! Got the bmx bug again!

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

Hey guys. Just found this thread. Had a Powerlite join the frey recently. It's a 2001 (from what I can tell) P19 Falcon. Thought it looked cool with the WW2 airplane noseart style decal on the gusset. Got it fairly cheap. I know it's not a particularly desirable model, but it has powerbend bars and "Coqpit" style forks (if I'm terming them correctly). Thinking about dressing it up with some GT parts, as this is a GT-era Powerlite (I think). Thinking Piston stem, Mohawk hubs, an era correct seat and rims, and 3 piece crank of some sort.
Getting this bike got my curiosity going on Powerlite history. I know GT acquired Powerlite in the 80's, and Pacific did in 2001. Who owns the brand now, if even still in production. Online searching has provided little in answers, and Pacific/Dorel doesn't list it as one of their brands now. And does that make mine a pre-Pacific bike?http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/260302/20190818_1259495d6601ae42.jpg

Cool bike man!! Do you happen to know the reach on that Powerlite Stem?

Check out my 2013 Pacific Made Powerlite Brawler. I loved the color and it was super cheap and thought it would look cool upgraded with Powerlite and GT parts.

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

GT USA Made Stem or Powerlite Stem on my 98 COQpit P61. Also decided on GT Stiletto Forks for it as well.

If the Powerlite Stem had a deeper engraving, I’d hands down pick it but that black GT Piston Stem is killer looking. What do you guys think?

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

Cleaned up the 99 P51 Mustang Pro a little bit. The decals on the downtube where really bad so I took those completely off and will look for a set to replace soon. Looks killer with the GT Stiletto Forks. Not sure if I’ll use them but definitely an option.

Try asking Badbill, he’s the man when it comes to Old School Powerlites.

Yea right.
What's up Matty? You still trying to finally finish your 3-bar too huh? Well I could actually use a set of those myself too. I used some ones that were a little smaller and it bothers me. I'll keep my eyes out tho but it'll probably be faster to have somebody make some for us.

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

Posted frame shots of this not to long ago and finally got the time to build it the other day. CUSTOM 99 Powerlite P51 Pro with 99 GT Stiletto Forks is near complete. Will be taking it back apart to polish the arms and have a few parts anodized and powdercoated but built this for myself. Hand sanded and polished, but looking for a set of Powerlite Pro Powerbend Bars 98/99 would work. Thanks guys

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

Well, I was finally able to reach out to the Rink family and asked the golden question!! Who owns Powerlite NOW??

Chris Chudzik is the rightful owner of the Powerlite Brand and the active rights. I can include a screenshot of our conversation for the naysayers if need be.

Jay David Franklin is a liar and a con artist! Jay claims to have owed the rights to Powerlite since the early 2000’s. But when I asked him to furnish the rights the only thing he came up with was the Schwinn’s rights from 2013/2014... Stay far away from Franklins, Hurricane Cycles as they a frauds. He sells reproduced GT parts as NOS and also anodized NOS parts to copy that famous 90’s GT Red and Blue.

So did Chris purchase the brand from Pacific Cycles? That was last traceable owner I had found.

I handle sales and marketing at True Torch. We have almost 40 years experience fabricating BMX bikes. We do custom builds and repairs but our overhead is not paid via BMX.

Re: Finally!! A Powerlite Thread!! I've Been Waiting For One.

Got the correct 99 Powerlite Forks put on this 99 P51 Mustang Pro. Think I wanna stay with the Sealed Bearing GT Mohawk Hubs and Rhythm Hoops until finding a set of sealed PLite Hubs. Also looking for the correct 99 P51 Seat, Red and Gold/yellow with the big P on the back top and two little P’s on the left and right side of the nose.  Later guys and gals

Good morning,
I can ask that for you, as I only asked who the current owner was and then shared photo’s of past Peddlepower/ Powerlite pictures from the 70’s and into the 80’s. Very nice guy, and welcomes all Powerlite fans/collectors to join his Facebook page.

I took it as GT and Powerlite were together at the end of the 90’s as everyone knows. GT and Schwinn collaboration until selling to Pacific in 2007, Pacific did a few releases with the Powerlite Brand but I personally think it was sometime around 2013/2014 when GT went to Pacifics parent company Dorel, that’s when I think Chris bought the legal rights to the Powerlite Brand and still legally owns the rights today. Personally I think I would need to ask GT aka Gary Turner, Schwinn or Pacific themselves if Mark Rink ends up not being able to answer that but I’ll give it a shot. Cool fact: Chris actually sends Marks parents all kinds of Powerlite Products still to this day.

His parents are up against some tough times right now aswell, so if anyone can donate towards the gofundme Account? they have started on Facebook. Get the correct gofundme from Mark Rink. Good Day all
