This retro SE. I can hear my buddy and now member saying, “ you don’t need an 85 performer, this company SE makes these bikes that look 80’s with modern components/ geometry.”  Which he was right about, however he was wrong that I didn’t need a performer, master trick star, etc....

Re: what was the bike that got you hooked back on BMX?

Random Ebay search 2-3 years ago after thinking of my old DB hot streak. Rough looking survivor in the same color as my old one available for local pick up 45 minutes from my house. Got in touch with the seller and met up with him at a craft brewery where he worked. Worked out a deal for the bike and got a growler thrown in for good measure....3 years and 17 bikes later...

I've always loved BMX, but did stop riding for quite a number of years as many seem to do, but still occasionally browsed for BMX stuff in that time as well, so not like I totally forgot about it. What got me hooked back into it was trash picking a frame that I didn't know what it was (seen it sticking out of a trash can on trash day as I drove by, spun the car around and grabbed it), and finally signed up here and asked about it, been enjoying BMX since although I still have not ridden anywhere near as much as I've wanted too.

Here is said frame. I PIF'ed it to a member here, not sure if he ever did anything with it or not. Oddly enough the side with the serial number was cut-off.

Sure it isn't some amazing complete ride, but was enough to remind me I still love BMX and that I wanted to ride again.

Re: what was the bike that got you hooked back on BMX?

This....’91 Ground Master. My 1st real bike I bought with my own money brand new working at a bike shop in St. Paul Minnesota named Bicycle Bill’s.

Now almost 30 years later I was lucky enough to have Freek approach me and sell his knowing I really wanted one for a long time. This will be my winter project and ONE of my rigs for next years 2020 Spring Build-Off. Gathering parts slowly but surely, thx to antg as well for the insane quality forks and clamp.

Nice.  Look like Carlos Lucia dropouts to me.

When I had it in the Name It section, it seemed to be an ELF and it looked the part, although never quite pinpointed exact year / model, but considering the condition, that wasn't a big deal. Looked to be decent quality, just unfortunate someone decided to cut off the left side of the rear-end sad.

Better angle of the dropout. Looked like ELF dropouts when looking them up.

Re: what was the bike that got you hooked back on BMX?

2015 SE 24" quadangle freestyle. I just didn't like the teal green color so I powder coated " trans brown".
Which I loved but ended up selling to get 22" S&M ATF which is so much more what I was looking for  dirt jumping. Till felt the need for a Bonedeth Motorbone for street and flatland riding. New school geometry and style is were it's at, for me.
