Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

Well as many who know me around here I’m into the the Custom Car Hobby and follow many of the big projects worldwide.

With that being said a few might have read about Kevin Hart’s very serious accident in his ‘70 Cuda SpeedKore built for him this year. He had major back surgery immediately afterwards as he was the passenger and two of his employees one being a female was driving around 1am. She was hurt as well and the 3rd just a few scrapes and bruises.

I was reading today his two occupants are now suing him (not a shocker) and the State of California is possibly going to pursue legal action against the company SpeedKore that built the car for him because of not having to proper safety equipment being air bags and five point harness belts in a car that exceeds 700hp even if the purchaser (Kevin Hart) opted not to have those items and just regular lap safety belts.

The question is...being the nature of this high dollar and high HP build should have SpeedKore not accepted Kevin’s request and HIGHLY RECOMMEND this equipment or just honor and fulfill his wishes in detail how the final build was completed and take the money and run?

What’s your guys opinions on this?

Here’s some pics of the aftermath. Luckily nobody was killed involved party or not.

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

He's not legally required to put airbags or race belts in a 50 year old car. No one is. Unless Commiefornia has some different laws I haven't heard of. No way could they be negligent for not doing something they didn't have to.

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

State of California is kind of funny. Non DOT approved replacements of seat belts (4-5 point harnesses) are illegal here. They will use this partly to help kill the hobby here even more.
The car is a '70 , three point belt, bare minimum smog . Gov. Newsoms' worst nightmare.

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

Company Probably Offers Upgrading the Safety Equipment But Since It's a Street Car, Customer Is The Determining Factor. Now It's To the Point of Builders to Get Customers to Sign Off Responsibility for Future POTENTIAL Wrecks? I've Got a 50+ yr Old Car that's Gonna Have 600hp and I'm Planning on Taking It Out and Test Drive it a While Before Opening It Up on a Track. I Thought of POSI-BITE When They Discussed the Accident Originally. Not High Speed-Short Distance Travelled Before Goin Off the Road. And the Drivers Unfamiliarity With the Car. hmm

Kevin has enough money to hire the best lawyers.Hope he decides to counter sue the person for crashing the car for replacement value. This is a prime example of why alot of car enthusiasts I know who won't let anyone drive their cars, especially the inexperienced.I know of a few people who had their cars destroyed in similar situations like this.

Don’t give 2 franks for that guy!

Watched one of his comedy specials, within the first 15 minutes
He was justifying hitting his girlfriend...punching her cause she “deserved” it...

Later POS!

Pretty sure it is all part of the comedy act.

Wow. Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished. The good deed was letting his buddy drive his car. If anyone drives anything you own, the owner and the owner's insurance are the ones liable.

If it is true about how he treats women, than this whole ordeal with the car is life giving back to him in a negative way.

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

Learn how to drive. If that was me I would have had no seat belt on at all. Crash isn’t that bad at all. Ems cut the roof off it. Makes it look worse.

Some cars are smooth with 700hp and some are violent with 300hp. Who knows how far was set up. I have had undrivable cars. Key is knowing when to back out of it.

what do I get for 20 dollars?

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

Think the road the crash occurred on is in the news every couple of months for the same thing happening. Just doesn't get much publicity because no celebrities are involved.

Re: Kevin Hart and SpeedKore Performance Group

Kevin Hart has always presented himself IMHO as a punk and don't find him funny. He made a stupid life decision to let someone unfamiliar with the car and its handling/performance drive it. Predictable result occurs. Don't feel sorry for him at all. Hope he has good lawyers.
That all being said, to O/P I certainly hope the SpeedKore company was smart enough to have their customers sign liability waivers.
