What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

I own a 1987 Decade and was wondering what makes the Decade Pro different.  I tried to search some and only found something about different colors.  There has to be more to it than that.

Thanks

Re: What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

The Pro had chrome on the frame (rear triangle and standing platform) and came with 48 spoke rims rather than Skyway OE mags.  Just off the top of my head.  I'm sure freedo will chime in with more, he's the Mongoose Decade pro!

Re: What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

My Decade is not a Pro and it has the 48 spoke wheels,  is this common? I have also been trying to buy a mint condition 88 Decade that is all white with mags.  An old lady up the street has it,  I am trying to pick it up cheap but she won't sell it.

Thanks for your input so far

pretty common.  the decade was made with both mags and 48 spoke wheels.  the pro had pro class rims and had a lock out freewheel, better quality lee chi brakes (990's) and it was half chrome and half another color

Re: What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

990 is for brake bosses intergrated into the frame.....ProClass wheels were a bicycle shop ordering option....either rims or OE mags.....Pros had metal pedals identical to the plastic version....also a lock-out freewheel so you can turn a screw and make it a coaster brake too....i beleive Pros had black stems opposed to the white SpinTechs....im pretty sure Pros were the only model that came with the optional Black Proclass rims.

The mounts that hold the brake on. Usually found on mid/newschool bikes.

Actually the Decade Pro had the black Pro Class 48s with an ACS Freetrak rear hub. Turn the dial and its a freewheel or a fixed hub

Re: What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

the 87 decades had center pulls, the 87 decade pros had 990's, basically its a 88 decade vs a 87 decade, the 88 being like the pro.

Re: What is the difference between a Mongoose Decade and Decade Pro?

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but i have searched and cannot find the answer to my question.   I have an 87 decade pro i just gave new life to and recently purchased front and rear pegs (26t) and the front pegs fit fine but the rears wouldn't fit, seems the axle is too big.  Rims are stock to the bike so i would think both are 3/8" axles @ 26t.  Did they come stock with different axle sizes?  Dropouts are perfect and have not been modified.  I tried to fit 24t and 26t pegs to the rear axles and have had no luck.  Can anyone shed some light?

fyi, below link are the pegs I purchased:

Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been posted before.

So I bought the wheels of this bike that was on the bay and he had this frame so is this a Pro labeled as a Decade or an 88 frame? It had a gripper rear brake, black pro class seat with a metal grinder plate on the back and pro class spoked wheels with silver hoops and white joy tech hubs.
