Is there anything you can insert into the bridge to prevent it from being crushed?

Looks good, thanks for sharing.

I would image if it doesn't get tightened down with gorilla like force it should be fine smile

It's weaker now before it was originally crushed. Now its been crushed the opposite way. Metal fatigue. I would not trust a brake on that bridge. Just my opinion

Re: Repairing Crushed Skyway TA Brake Bridge

I recently got an ‘86 GT Pro XL, and the brake bridge was completely crushed flat. I was going to cut the whole bridge out and weld in a new one, but I like a challenge. I ordered the tool and quickly realized that it does not work miracles. I ended up using the tool, a couple of C- clamps, a couple of brass drifts and some hammer and dolly work to get it round again. There are still a couple of pock marks, but the brake hardware will cover them.https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/207817/e116e18e-24b4-4fdd-b2ed-0273ad413ddf5e5aec8ad6.jpeg
