And that MD that you've linked to Tom fits the criteria for a K-9 - like we discussed, could have been a K-9 sold right at the end of prod decaled as a MD.

the hunt continues!

That's Perry Nelson, early S&M rider. He's still got his K9, never rode it much because it was too short. For a long time he rode a Free Agent Limo stickered as an S&M. big_smile

I'll post photos of his as soon as he sends it. He's got 1 NOS K9 sticker set for his frame too. And he's keeping all his stuff so everybody calm down.

Keep hunting! There's more out there!cool

Re: The Holy Grail... S&M K-9 D-Zine

I was looking at the October 1988 issue of BMX Action and found this on page 28. A spread highlighting the back of racer's plates. Stem and bars are different but frame pad, seat post clamp, head set and frame look the same. Chris Moeller's bike a couple months after turning pro.https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/20527758/MD88Pro.png

Re: The Holy Grail... S&M K-9 D-Zine

If you have never seen a Privateer, check out the museum. It was the frame Chris was riding while and before having the K-9's made. They were also made By Cook Bros. and inspired the geometry for the K-9.

They are probably only slightly less rare than the K-9. I know of less than 6 of the 20's & 2 of the 24's have been found.

Re: The Holy Grail... S&M K-9 D-Zine

someone on the museum bought it all, they never came out openly and said that they bought it from me, however mostly everyone knows who it was due to the for sale posts for some of the items.

I traded everything, essentially for a year of college. I am already seeing the benefits of having quality education, so in my eyes, it was worth it... however... it sucks to know that i will likely never have a collection like that again for the rest of my days. everytime i came home and saw a package, it was like Christmas lol i do miss the hunt, however, i must admit that it became a part time job and definitely obsessive lol

Good to see my old bike up and running.  Great investigative work. I do remember Charlie Long from the track and it makes sense that this would have been his.  Cool stuff. Enjoy
