1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100

My First bought BMX bike

Here is a picture of me in 1979 on the day my Dad and I went to Stutsman Sporting goods, the local Schwinn Dealership, and bought my new Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100,Spicy Chesnut, my favorite color combination. I mowed yards, washed cars, babysat my brother and sisters, and when I had close to enough money my step dad took me down and paid the difference, taught me to work for what I wanted! I latter upgraded to some gold aluminum v-bars, gold 3 piece cranks, black KKT Rat Traps, and a black MX seat. The second and third pictures are of when my little brother took over the bike and he started racing it at the Norco YMCA, which is when I started racing my Redline, around 1982.

Re: 1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100

Its amazing how similar our stories are. I did the exact same thing to get my 77 Mag Scrambler new, saved $82.00 throughout 1977 and my parents paid the balance for x-mas, which was a shock since they had bought me a Huffy Thunder Road 2 years earlier and had 6 siblings. great back story to a cool bike Brunson!

Re: 1979 Schwinn Mag Scrambler SX100

My first bmx bike was also a schwinn sx100 spicy chestnut with tuff 1 my Montgomery wards 3 speed bike got stolen and my parents were not going to buy me another bike so in 78 had to get a paper route at 30 dollars a month started saving and bought it with my own money late 1978 at Phils schwinn in Portland Oregon.

I bent my stem and forks and bars while jumping and ended up with mongoose forks and a purple stamped tuf neck with some chrome bars.

Raced it 79 and 80s
