My first "new school" bike. tongue

'11 Haro 300.1  Just bought it yesterday, spent a bit of time going over it, fixed a few things and took it for a spin, despite the rain. It sure is different than riding an old school BMX. Had to change the seat and post, the original was far too uncomfortable and low. Otherwise I like it, so far.

Odd, I'm finding it difficult to pull up on the front or do a simple bunny hop with this bike compared to my RaceInc. or other bikes. Is this normal or is it just a matter of getting used to it?

Pull your handlebar back to be more alingened with the fork.NS bikes are not designed for the bars to be Chicago'd.Yes it will take some time getting use to NS geo,but once you do,you will love it.

It stopped raining so I've been out, playing with the bar angle and getting used to riding with 50 psi in the tires. Feels foreign so far, but getting used to it. Still don't like the feel of it when airborn, very nose heavy. Stable at speed though, liking that. Still a pain to pedal uphill, but down hill it feels great. tongue

Definately need better brake shoes, they don't seem to work at all until I get them heated up, although it's only 10 C here today.

Auld fart meets new school, so far so good. tongue

Switch out the front load stem for a top load.Front loads make the front end feel heavy,it also means you are leaned over more too.

I'll have a look in the bike shops in Nelson when I go there, see what's available. I need a front rim and rotor for a Specialised  I bought a few weeks ago, plus cables and assorted bits for a few others I've picked up in the last while....the collection is growing again, lol. tongue

http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/259714/p10111625ce1d08a13.jpg

A few of the recent purchases.

The Tech and the Rocky Mountain were bikes I bought and cleaned up for a couple of kids in the area, but their dad insisted they get new $300 bikes instead. I didn't argue, just shrugged my shoulders. Full chro-mo with decent parts for what I have into them, vs: whatever you get for $300 at a bike shop. roll

The '87 Magician EX was part of a trade on a '70 Ford 429 and CJ parts. The engine was for my '70 Torino GT, but I sold the car, and is now going into a friend's '70 Torino Cobra. It went to a good home. smile Not sure what to do with the Kuwi, not in love with it.

The Specialised is a keeper. I bought some hydraulic brakes and a few other pieces for it and still need a front rim and rotor, but I have taken it out for a spin. Front wheel wobbles so bad that anything over 20 MPH is risking your life. lol I am in love with hydraulic brakes though, another first for me. It's aluminum frame as well, so another bonus, always had a thing for that. tongue

An '08 WalGoose Rebel.....it was sorta pushed on to me. Not free, but cheap enough, and it's complete minus the chain guard. Some neighbourhood kid will likely end up with it, and build some serious muscle riding that tank. lol

There's more, but not worth a mention, or a pic. A couple cheapies got chopped up for parts and scrapped. One was hit by a car, so not a lot to salvage other than the 26" white wall tires, seat and a chain.

lollollol The NOS parts and frames are nice to look at but do not come close to moving me the way a built bike does. When you assemble all the parts and make it complete you are bringing it to life and giving it a soul. Demented? Hell yeah!!!!
cool

Re: Post a pic of your last purchase.

Picked this up, Free Agent's contribution to the mid-school tank. Some good stuff on here though, 4130 handlebars, Pig headset, wheels are ok for looseballs. What's with the front V-brake? Every part on this bike has Free Agent on it, even the front tire. I will post it for reference before I dismantle it, unless there are objections, which I doubt.http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/258026/img_08385ce4dfeef3.jpg
