1984 Hutch Pro Star

My Hutch Pro Star(ish)... It's an original 84 Hutch Pro Star frame and forks with Hutch Western H stem, Pro Bars, doughnut clamp, 2 in 1 headset, grips and Bear trap pedals. The cranks are original Redline 401s. The wheels are Ukai with Bullseye hubs and the seat is a Uni Pro 14. Repro parts are the Comp IIIs, Hutch rad caps and the Hutch Zap pads.
I know it's not a 'pure blood' Pro Star, but it encapsulates everything about BMX back when I was a Scottish country bumpkin reading my VERY expensive imported 'BMX Plus'.

Bikes that were raced, often had different parts as the racing season progressed. I'd say you captured the spirt of BMX BITD.
It's a great build anyway you look at it.

Great build there fella!! Love it.

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Star

If you had ability to purchase/race a bike like this BITD you definitely would have built it up like this. Congrats for not making a "catalogue build".

Great looking bike!

Just out of curiosity… how much did you spend to get a copy of BMX Plus?

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Star

Beautiful Hutch!!! I like the added black parts for a change instead of the usual chromed out look most folks do with their Hutch. That chain really adds some cool details too!

Re: 1984 Hutch Pro Star

Finding true original 80's parts takes time and money. Sometimes I use repop parts on my builds just so I can have a complete bike until the rite part comes along. Nothing wrong with that and lots of guys do it. Keep looking bro.
....nice Pro Star
