Decent cruiser, report back how it rides.
I still prefer a used bike on a good deal, easy to do under $150 with a cleanup and a few new parts. But you never know what youre gonna get until its torn down.
Ive been looking at low seat (women) alum mountain bikes lately, Non Suspension. New spokes on the rear to center the hub, single speed it with bmx bars, careful chain length set up and new tires. Could be a good light beater cruiser for under $100. BMX style fork kicks the price up.
My local Craigslist is full of mid nineties Treks and whatnot for $300-$400 and other super low end stuff for over $100. This seemed like the most cost effective option. Long gone are the days of affordable stuff popping up.

Re: I Bought A Walgoose...
I need to find my spare Tektro v brake. Saying the stockone is garbage is an insult to garbage. I had the lever, seat, post, and clamp in my parts bin and bought the brake cable since the stock one was too short to use with the Shimano lever. Rode it for a few minutes this afternoon and it seems solid. I will be removing the reflectors when I swap out the brake. Still debating on what to do with the stickers.

Looks good for a budget cruiser and what you have laying around. Can always upgrade a little as you go. Better than nothing and not riding at all.
It's yours. Do what you want with it

I have trashed waaaayyy too many mongooses to have anything good to say about them. Sorry but I haven’t met a mongoose that can withstand 235 lbs riding it over stairs, jumps rails etc. They just don’t build them like they used to. I love my nutsack too much to risk riding one.

And I really am not trying to down your purchase, to each their own but for what you paid for that bike new, you could have bought a midschool or even new school bike for the same price in great condition that could take more punishment.

Got this on CL for $80, was covered in overspray and the back wheel had a nasty wobble.

Yeah, hi-ten frame. Got it for my brother so I could have my X24 back. Sold it to him for a hundo after I put a solid day into bringing it back to life.

I check it at least twice a day, the good ones don't last long.

Re: I Bought A Walgoose...
I got one of these as well ! So far i have replaced the bars with a CW knock off pro-bar, removed the front brake completely, replaced the rear brake lever, bumped the front sprocket to a 42T w/ new chain , replaced the pedals with some bear claws and greased everything. Fun bike for under 300.00

Hes selling the bike for 500$
i see this all the time local. new conversion, used conversions. i just think the builder took it
out and really opened it up but it was unstable, couldnt stop and generally just scary as hell
so they then put it up for sale....with the whole bicycle geometry at motorcycle speeds and all

This all started with my 2yr old and his Strider balance bike. Didn't want to piss the wife off too much, so I went the cheaper direction for now. He loves helping daddy work on it ! The pro bars really made it feel like I remembered a BMX felt
