Wow that is wild. Both brake cables running to one brake lever? That would have a hell of a stiff pull. Those old sidepull brakes were awful, I bet a dialed set of modern 990's or Shimano V-brakes would outdo that dual setup?

That's precisely the point. Ever try a london-mod or brake-spares? Guaranteed to work way better. Slap on some clear pads and you can probably put the devil himself over the bars.
