Re: 1986 MARTIN APARIJO GT PFT REPLICA BUILD
I haven't been on here for a month or two, and no new progress yet. I have been super busy with life/kids (one races MX, one daughter playing city league and on a traveling softball team, another daughter playing high school softball), and then the weather. So much rain in my world. As a farmer, I love the rain, but this year is too much. I have had almost 30” of rain since end of April, and that’s more than a normal growing season which ends in October. My crops are floating. My basement has flooded and has been wet for the last 2 months. The bikes are all high and dry, but my bmx shop area won’t get used until it dries out. Set backs in my world as of now, but we are hopefully over the hump and will slowly dry out. Sorry to all that have been waiting to see this beauty live. It will in due time.

Re: 1986 MARTIN APARIJO GT PFT REPLICA BUILD
I have snagged a couple parts here as of late. I need to send some things off for powder as I can’t find any 86 lavender fork standers. I need to dig my way back to my bike shop area and get organized a bit. I need to have a fork powdered as well. The one i have is not worthy of how this build is going to end up, the build is polishing up pretty nice. I’ll get some pictures up soon.

Can’t wait to see the finished product. This build was always at the top of my wish list. Glad to see somebody doing one. Saves me from doing it myself and spending a bunch of. $$$ I don’t have, lol.

This will be so cool when completed.
What is the white part near the right rear frame stander on Martin's bike?

That there is an additional GT Framestander, modified to point in that weird direction. Not sure what trick he used it for tho....

Pretty sure it was for “finger flips” where you wound up doing back peg hops with the bike upside down. Ceppie Maes trick. (Dizz in pic.). It would have been better and easier to run pegs instead of that cut stander but things that seem obvious now took a while to figure out back then. I think the stander was thought to make it easier to “flip” the bike into that position.

I almost wonder if it helped with undertakers, or was he not doing them yet at that time?
Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy! If you've got one, bring one. -Me

Re: 1986 MARTIN APARIJO GT PFT REPLICA BUILD
I've been super excited about your build since the beginning.. The chrome frame with dayglo bars, fork, and post is my all time favorite color scheme. I was inspired and started my own, but with an 87 frame. It's still under major construction and I was doing a couple mock ups, but I'm also about build up a racelace/Araya wheelset today this week. Can't wait till yours is finished to see the outcome!
If you dare me, I'll jump pretty much anything
