Re: Ok this does it! (timeline and slight rant about Haro kneesaver)

ok, I know, I know... an old forum gets the dust blown off it, again.

Usually I'm AOK with telling what's no-name ripoffs, and which is the real deal when it comes to early kneesavers. This pair is obviously from the mid nineties... by which point, Haro was likely making a few different versions. Never seen these before. The look like 7/8" tubing, but with that wide clamp-bar??

Legit?

But is it Legit Haro? I think it is... chevrons would be too hard to fake (?) It's the difference between $30 and $250... I might just have to settle for mid-school...

Totally legit. But IMO, not worth rechroming, unless you're making a trailer-queen. That chrome looks good enough for any build or rider.

What year are they? They are starting to flake on the other side of the armpits...but if the year is right..I'll do it...I've had them since EARLY 90ish.You can see the hitchhiker marks by the levers.

Re: Ok this does it! (timeline and slight rant about Haro kneesaver)

My guess is early 90's -- 91-92. Just from the sweep, up-bend and crossbar. Had a pair like that that I didn't like as much as an earlier pair which were flatter in the upbend. But yeah -- they look the business! Do it!

Re: Ok this does it! (timeline and slight rant about Haro kneesaver)

I bought a set identical to those, in chrome, with no paint over the chrome, in oct. 1989, they did have the 87-88 decals, but were in chrome only, those were my fave type of kneesavers had significantly less sweep! I rocked those bars on and off for about 9 years!

It sucks that the original photos are gone from this thread.

I wanted to learn and was confused as to why all the pics were gone and then I saw when this thread was started.  I better bring in my Swiffer duster and get the cobwebs off this one.

Re: Ok this does it! (timeline and slight rant about Haro kneesaver)

those appear to be 1989-1990's. that exact model is my favorite. DMC used to ride a set of those when he started riding for mongoose. matt had a set when he pulled the first public flip at the KOV in Texas in 1990 as well. love the fact they have slightly less sweep and a tad lower crossbar than the 88's.

I’m no expert but those seem to have a higher cross bar than my Mirra pros.

Re: Ok this does it! (timeline and slight rant about Haro kneesaver)

This is a comparison of my Mirra pros in the back and fake kneesavers II, you can see the Mirras have a shorter crossbar.
