This one will take time for me.

Do you know which way you’re going to go with it yet?

I picked up this 88 Predator TC project about a week ago. Lots of work to be done. I don’t know that I will go for a full restore but I will make it look like it should. Those yellow Skyway Tuff 1s are coming off along with a lot of other stuff.

Crap brother, I’ve had that happen to me before and it was impossible to put the rotor back together. I talked to one member and he said to leave one of the bearings out to get the shaft to fit in, but it will not be complete

A good idea to use for the lower cable is a primo pervert. It allows you to customize a lower cable to the proper length if you don’t have a long enough one. It’s a system I’m still working on with my 89 Pro

The problem I am going to have is with the front half of the lower cable... I need the dual cables to be super short before it "Y"'s off into one cable... It is not 100% necessary, but it would be cool if I could use the integrated cable guide on the downtube...

On the other hand, I will probably just put this build on hold until I can find a different rotor...

Let me check the stash, I think I sent you that rotor so maybe I can replace it

You should be able to customize the lower dual cables as needed with Knarps.

Yeah, those would work, but I am going to wait on a different rotor...

So, here is the final result minus the rotor and brake cables...

Re: The "Official Unofficial Schwinn Predator" Thread

Ok, for you Predator experts...  I've been doing a little research on Predators and seen that some of them come with fluted posts.  1. I've only ever seen aluminum fluteds; what are these made from/  Cuz these dont have the deep flutes common with the aluminum posts.  2.  I'm starting to see fluted seat posts in the used sections and they look like the shallow flute posts I've seen on some Predators, but these are all stamped 22.5mm... In all my years around bicycles I've never seen a 22.5mm post.  Are these predator posts and do predators REALLY have a 22.5mm seat tube?

Threadless isn't "old school", sorry lol.  Thank you Scott Breithaupt, Bob Haro, Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Kevin Hull, Jose Yanez, Matt Hoffman & the rest for leading the way & keeping the flame lit.  Without you guys we'd have nothing.

Some predators do require a 22.5 fluted post, yes.

Yup most actually need it 22.5 but you can sometimes get away with running 22.2 posts especially painted posts. I even had a 22.6 post before, I think for some Hutch or something like that

Yep, I have 4 of the fluted Cr-Mo 22.5 Predator seat posts, 2 layback and 2 straight... They are kind of hard to come by, but came standard on a lot of the different model Predators... They started using the fluted design posts in '85 and they came on the Free Form EX, Black Shadow, Nighthawk and the Streetwise that year... The Nighthawk and Streetwise had the lay-back version and the EX and Shadow had the straight version... I think Schwinn used the fluted design on a few different Predators up until '89 with the last Predator to use the fluted post being the '89 Flatland Pro...
