Re: New Zealand

Hi there, can anyone tell me where the serial numbers are on supersport frames? Just bought a POS on trademe to work on. Has a few nice parts on it but can't find the serial #.
Also of note, the decals are different to all the ones on here. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, welcome! The serial is under the seat tube brace so flip the frame upside down to see it. Have you got a photo of the decals at all?

Re: New Zealand

Don't have a picture of it on me (at work) but they're like this (it's a 202 though) http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/supersport/67685
Also, my work has a facebook blocker. Are those links the NOS BMX NZ facebook?

Ah ok Facebook won't help then one link is to that page and another NZ page. Those decals are just later ones. Would guess serial maybe late 80's?

Re: New Zealand

Awesome man thanks for your help! I'll track down the serial number when i get home. Stoked I got one anyway. I'm probably gonna get older decals via the trademe route anyway seems they're so customisable.

Re: New Zealand

Hi guys, probably a long shot but let’s get this thread back up and running!

Here’s my hmx 600 I picked up a couple of years back. I’m going to do a full resto and any advice is appreciated

Re: New Zealand

Original paint on frame and the pads look like they in ok condition but need a bit of work. Look forward to seeing the progress!

Thanks LoJac, needs a lot of work! One thing I’d like to know is how do I figure out what year it was made?

Hey Sam, unfortunately there's no way to know for certain. The serials weren't done in line with dates. Closest you'll get is based on the model.

Double gusset would make it 80-84 ish and guessing the seat is og earlier Kashimax sport, double rear reflectors and Nitto stem would say 80/81.

Re: New Zealand

Oh cool thanks for the info northland_rider, sound like you know a lot about the hmx 600. I haven’t been able to find much information on the net about them or any parts for sale.
From what I can tell this bike is mainly original except for the tyres, brake cable,  and left side crank?

If you're on Facebook Join NOS Bmx NZ, plenty of guys in the know and happy to help out. That's why this thread isnt active as it's all shifted to there.

Plan is to restore them over time, only one I’d be letting go of at this stage is the supersport.

Re: New Zealand

Yep, I don’t blame you. Lots of NZ BMX history in one picture - including the Elf, lots of them at the races during the mid/late 80’s.
