2000 GT Speed Series UltraBox XL

The beginning of the end.

I’ve wanted a Ultrabox since I was 12 looking through Bmx plus magazine, I still have the issue were I first saw the ad.
It took me 3 years of searching for this frame. Every one that I came across was either powdered or completely polished. I was on the hunt for an original untouched survivor. One morning I woke up and jumped on my phone and started looking through Craigslist for bikes before work.. and there it was.. a ultrabox frame with seat post! One problem.. it was 3 hours away and he wasn’t willing to hold or ship it. So I called out of work and jumped in the truck and drove out to get it.  I wanted to build the bike as I would in the early 2000s. The ultrabox was never offered in a complete so it’s fair game  Over the years I saved some parts for this build including the Gt profile cranks, overdrive sprocket and King headset.  I collected a few more parts from here and eBay including a set of Hemans, nos Shimano DX brakes, USA piston, 4 piece pro bars, Reynolds stiletto forks, complete set of ultrabox pads, Dyno lip grips, specialized spanky red wall tires and a very (rare?) set of GT rhythm system wheels with silver anodized hoops.. Only set I can find and I even reached out to some of the higher ups at GT and they believe they are a set issued to one of the team riders. I love this bike and ride it almost every day. I take it to the track 3-4 times a month. The plate is from me placing 1st for 14N in 2002. The frame is signed by Rob Nolli. Hope you all like it as much as I do.

Re: 2000 GT Speed Series UltraBox XL

Found the missing decal and changed up the tires, shredded the rear Spanky on the last ride.
