Well photobucket allowed photos to be viewed again months ago.  But just recently now added their logo in the photos.

Re: Score! 1984 Haro Sport 3rd Gen- Survivor down to the reflectors.

When photobucket locked photos and forum pics were lost I contacted fisch about restoring the pics but he did not know how.  I said I would contact a mod to restore them and fisch sent me the pics through email.  One mod didn't respond as he probably didn't want to do it.  Time past and photobucket unlocked the pics a few months ago.  I will re-post the pics again in the order of fisch post just incase photobucket decides to maybe lock pics again in the future.

From Post #57

"I was putting together some photos and thought you guys might want to see the 'before' shots of the Sport- prior to getting out the soap and water and washing off that 1984 dirt. (Part of me wonders if I should have left the dirt on there, but I love cleaning up a find. It is like a ritual!"

"Interestingly it was pointed out that the head tube decal is upside down! I hadn't noticed till now, but there it is. I can't imagine it is a repop, the overall condition of the bike was way more 'survivor' than 'restored'. And if you were restoring it, wouldn't you notice it was upside down? Bizarre. Maybe the employee at Haro had done one too many 360's that day?"

Oh well, I bet the part our made some folks who needed the parts happy and it just ups the value of my haro survivor that I found just this year on my very short street of just five houses. The PO has had it since 1985 and I had only heard about it until the day I bought it. I didn’t even know what year it was when he brought it over and put a number on it because I was more of a GT guy. Now I’m full on a haro lover!http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/220163/609917cf-cd28-4db1-ae72-d8469e42d9cd5bd110eff1.jpeg

Hope you don’t mind me hijacking this thread with my survivor but since OP parted it out, I figured what’s the harm.

Hi guys, new poster, but I've been drooling for a while here. But snagged this yesterday, and I thought this was a worthy addition to the Museum. I am just an average 40 year remembering the glory days.

Best flea market score EVER for me! Got a sweet deal on it. I could not believe it when I saw it. I didn't have enough cash and had to leave it to find an ATM. The drive back was maddening, I was sure it was gone. Every grandma in the world was driving in front of me. ARRRGH!!! But there it was when I got back and I jumped on it. Two guys approached me after. "So hey, do you know much about that bike?"

"I am not an expert, but know a bit about it." I replied.

Story goes the owner somehow got this from Pepsi BITD. I have no idea how the connection was made. A contest perhaps? I need to dig more. This looks totally original down to the reflectors. I mean c'mon, what kid didn't take off the reflectors of a freakin Haro Sport? Looks barely ridden for the most part. Even the ends of the grips are totally intact. I mean these bikes got dropped on their bars all the time, right?

You guys know way more about these than me. But I did some digging and turns out this bike might be a total survivor all the way down to th ACS Z-rims and single rear Die-compe  MX brake + Suntour coaster hub? Harofreestyler.com had the factor specs listed as:

Anyone know the average value on this puppy? It is far from nos but is a pretty complete survivor.

FYI we are not allowed to ask value on here. but way cool find!

Heh I miss lookin at this bike in my studio. And Skid, I hear what you are saying. Everything I own is ratty, has character/mojo, and generally isn't babied. If this were pieced together from parts, even to stock specs, I would have ridden it. If this were a bit of this and a bit of that I certainly would have ridden it. But there is something to saving the history of a bike like this. A total survivor (Minus chainguard.) does not show up everyday. Personally I'd ride a restored mint one before I'd beat on a survivor like this.

I mean why should we have any museums? Abraham Lincoln's hat? Hell it is still just a hat. It is meant to be worn, not put behind alarmed plexi-glass with armed guards, right? Someone should just wear that thing! lol

Hey Undercover Poe. Sup man.
I remember talking to you for a bit when you posted that Master in another thread.  Great pick up on that one...looks like a great Survivor Master. You cleaned it up well.
And to you and crj1968.... it is a shame this bike here in this thread Fisch had scored got taken apart.  And to Undercover Poe I think it may have only made the buyer happy as he may have just pilfered the parts for his own use.  But I am happy with the f/f.  I will bring the soul back into this bike.

Well thats cool you have it... I can see the parting it out thing from both sides. I mean we all need parts and they gotta come from somewhere....and if a dude sees a complete with all the stuff he needs in one place, I get it.  Also you can't blame a guy if he is trying to make a buck, that's just how it goes.  I've parted bikes but they weren't like "factory show room floor" completes...more like ones how I built bikes in the 80's;  with whatever I could scrounge up.  LOL

Anyway good luck with it !  cool

I agree. It does seem to me that it’s a shame to break up something as nice and original as that Haro. But it was his bike and he can do as he chooses. And I bet those parts made him plenty happy. Isn’t that was it’s all about anyway?  We all do this for the joy (and I guess some do it for Money)  But I’m the up side you got that sweet frame and if it turns out anything like that trick master it’s going to be f@&king awesome!!!  Thanks again on the props for my survivor score and clean up. It’s has been life changing.

Re: Score! 1984 Haro Sport 3rd Gen- Survivor down to the reflectors.

You're right. Ultimately it is the buyers bike & he can choose to do what he wants with it.
Thanks Poe.  I will bring this 3rd Gen Sport back to life.  Wish I could get original tires for it but they have reproduction Cheng Shin available.  Just need one silver DC cable clamp.

Re: Score! 1984 Haro Sport 3rd Gen- Survivor down to the reflectors.

I have an 83 Yamaha RX 350, guys talk about them being found and parted out. Their justification is, you may have 10 guys looking for the last couple parts to make their bikes complete. By parting out one bike, you can in the end have more complete units. I'm on the fence. As said I do kinda feel some should be left as survivors but also as said, it wasn't my bike.

Every time I get on my bike I win. Ms.BMX.

I don't have enough faith to believe in evolution.
