he spoon fed me the same bullcrap, LOL
I was supposed to buy it monday for $400 when he "got off work"
good for him I guess for getting more money for it.  I told him the "over $1k" offer was bogus, and when it turned out I was right he relisted it and posted "don't waste my time with offers".  orinically, he didn't mind wasting my monday as I waited all day with car keys in my hand to go pick it up at a moment's notice LOL
he was a tool and he handled it accordingly

HOWEVER, to the OP, congrats!!  it's a sweet bike and I wish I'd gotten it!  it's considered a 1985 and I told the seller that, but as stated.....tool
Good on you for getting him to drop it off with you smile

Again, sweet bike, and obviously several of us really like it smile smile
Please bring it out to a local show so we can check it out in person

Honestly, I had no idea that any of that was going on... I spotted the bike on Ebay, zero bids, 75% pos feedback so I waited, took a chance and it paid off in the end.... I'm happy with the price!
I've been there before and it sucks but I can honestly say I didn't offer any extra cash, nor did I talked him into selling me the bike from under any if you guys on this site... Everything was done though Ebay up until he pmd me his number 30mins out... that's when we switched to the phone  conversation. Sorry, didnt mean to make people mad!

No commotion on your behalf bud, all you did was buy a sweet bike smile
the seller however, could have been a little more upfront about how he handled it, that's all

yup, like I said, good on you wink
75% is horrible feedback however, that speaks to the character of the seller, LOL
now shine that thing up and update this thread with more pics  smile smile

Nice pick up.  I was a buyer at $1000, until I heard about all the history from Jeff.  Then I figured I could just pass.  You did nothing wrong, just a straight up Ebay transaction.  smile

Please, please, please don't give that thing an OA or vinegar bath.  If anything use Metal Rescue from Home Depot.  It's non-acidic.  Better yet, spend some elbow grease with Mother Chrome polish and a bunch of micro fiber rags.

Whatever you do, you got a SWEET bike, so enjoy!!!  big_smile

Not sure who Jeff is but the dude's name was Michael!
But yeah I agree... elbow grease and soap is the smartest way to go about it...I won't use any harsh chemicals, O promise! Thanks for the positive comment!

Wow. Nice score. Those bars are sick. This is a really nice GT. I’d be proud to own it. Congratulations on scoring an awesome bike. Sometime it pays to pay attention to eBay.  I love how original it is!!

Those seats are the best.  I wish GT would've stuck with those for a couple more years.

Jeff  =  Quick2

I was going to hit the Buy it Now on E-bay last week because I wanted the bars and the rest of the bike has nice parts.   Seeing the serial number and getting the lowdown on the back and forth with the OG owner and Quick2 I decided to stay out of it and pass.

Sweet bike though, you should be proud of it.  It will definitely clean up sweet.   And those bars!!!!!   cool

Here’s the serial number.

Nice ride, serial number makes this a 1985 model.
