Shipping stacks of magazines

For those who have sold magazines, specifically stacks of them.  Like a years worth, for example.  In the US, do those qualify as media mail?  If not, what is the cheapest way you've found to ship bulk amounts of magazines?

Re: Shipping stacks of magazines

I used to distribute records and zines back in the day, and used media mail for reduced rates. Im being useless I guess but Im not sure if the post office does media mail anymore. You would have to ask or check the Post Office's crappy/confusing website. I just shipped a stack of around 23 thin magazines to England via Post Office and I cost me $62! They went to a good home but now I understand international shipping rates a bit more. Possibly UPS or Fed-Ex may be cheaper for US shipping? They were $10ish more than the Post Office for my England shipment.

Re: Shipping stacks of magazines

Yes, media mail does still exist and is quite a bit cheaper than parcel select for items like books.  Just didn't know if magazines counted.  Thought I'd get a a quicker answer here than getting put on hold at the post office.

I believe items sent through Media Mail can not contain advertising.

This is true.. Magazines "Do Not" fall under media mail per the USPS..

You can try to ship it media mail and hope the USPS does not open pkg however... When shipping Media Mail you give the right to the USPS to open pkg as they see fit..

Large stacks + heavy = flat rate priority stuff will be your best bet.
