Theory...Equal torque on both sides in consideration of frame flex. Just a guess.

Re: 1985 Sling Shot Pro

Messaged john, but for the rest of you.
To be honest, I can see no advantage.  It was "suppose" to provide power stroke with both legs, but you really already have that with a normal crank setup.
But Killer looks never the less.

Re: 1985 Sling Shot Pro

messaged Brian Landers, but for the record in answer to his question.

Yes it is specially made with opposite threads on off side.  Still uses standard freewheel, but it must me secured with a lock nut on hub.
They were made by Clem Twin to use only with the Twin Crank setup.  Extremely rare,  I had another one but sold it 2-3 years ago.

Re: 1985 Sling Shot Pro

Rear Hub has Lock Nut to retain freewheel which screws on backwards.
It was suppose to give two power strokes, but IMO that is sales hype, you still have
two feet on pedals pushing down with one chain.  As far as I can see the transfer to
the single chain in no different, than pushing down on the chain side with a double
chain set up.

Re: 1985 Sling Shot Pro

I remember seeing one at a NBL Nationals long ago, honestly forgot they existed. Thanks for stirring old memories. E.
