Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

Bump and back to it.
Didn't go hazard yellow or turquoise. My son thought radberry would be sweet, so I gave it a whirl. These pics look a lil gray I'll have to get it in the sunlight. It does have a lighter/faded look and I dig it.http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/193744/20161120_192654583430fb46.jpg

Stay tuned for completion.

Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

I know that this is quoting an over 4 year old quote...  But I'm currently building an 86 RL20 and plan on doing Hazzard Yellow as that was the color I first tried to order in 1986, just to find out a week after ordering that the color was out of stock (ie, no longer available)...  But absolutely MUST have the correct sticker colors in the 1986 style...  Does anyone know where I could get a set of these made up?...

Been contemplating selling the Cali RL20a. Then I may have a hard time not doing the prostyler that color:rolleyes:

If you pop out those bearing cups you might get a glimpse of what the original color was.... if that matters.

Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

As far as I got a few years ago.  All sold now, but was fun.  Was only short of properly dated cables, original tires and exact chainring teeth/color when baby came along.  Maybe I will someday build another.

I took it all the way down for a respray, turned out it was Cali red, same as my RL20A. So went a different direction.

Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

i LOVE my 20.  and i agree. ride better than a 20II.  and i know EVERYBODY says they are the same geo as a 20II, but i seem to recall some VERY SLIGHT differences.  but that all being said, the both ROCK.

however, i would keep this OG 20 over my refinished 20II (if i were forced to make a choice).

More or less how it currently sits (except it's put together and dialed, lol)

OG Radberry (Left RL20) C4 Radberry (Right 20II)  the light in my basement really screws with this color.

Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

So it looks like the photobucket change has finally taken effect on my account. I will try to get my photos uploaded and reposted this weekend. I have more to share as well.

I get this question often so here it is to save everyone time. I do not have any Mongoose DMC decals left. I was lucky enough to find a small bunch of NOS decal sets in an old bike shop that no longer exists and I have since sold them all. Sorry. I wish you all the best of luck with your DMC builds.

If I understand your question correctly (is the RL Pro-Styler model the same as RL20), the answer is no. There are four models that I am familiar with, which are listed below.

RL20a
RL20b
RL20II
RL20 Prostyler

One of the major difference is The 20A & 20B have a 4 inch head tube; whereas the others have 5 inch head tube.

cool i never noticed the head tube difference

The easiest way to know an RL20 FROM A 20A...( the frames are similar) there is a gap between the top and bottom tubes on the 5" headtube frames ( RL20 and 20II) You can check my bikes out to see what I am talking about ...

Re: REDLINE RL20, RL20a Prostylers Thread

Time to bring this thread back. Photobucket killed all the pictures, so I need some advice from the prostyler experts!

I picked up this frame set from the original owner (still has both shop decals!) and I want to build it. But I’m having a hard time with what handlebars and stem came on this exact model. Forklifter stem and bars? Or the more normal looking Bmx bars? (Sorry I’m a Gt Guy lol) what brakes and levers came on this model? I appreciate any help!

Nice! That's an 85. It would have come with forklifter stem and "STR Series" straight corssbar bars.
Brakes should be Dia-Compe FS-880 with tech 4 levers I'm pretty sure.
