Re: Stranger Things

I totally agree.  Great show but why not take the time to get authentic bmx bikes?  Everything else is legit----right down to the Ford Pinto.

brucoh wrote:

Love the show, but I cringe at the bike scenes.   It looks like they just went down to Walmart and picked up a bunch of cheap modern bikes and half assed tried to dress them up as early 80's bikes.     They nailed almost everything else in the show as being from the early 80's, but didn't put much effort into the bikes.

Re: Stranger Things

At least one of them, 2tone paint, looks like a later model not 80s or even 90s to me. Bugging me lol

Not quite sure what it is...

The banana seat bikes look like they may be older dept store but not sure on that either.

Re: Stranger Things

The black and white one is a Kent, an Ambush. Decals removed and tires changed, a few other changes to make it look different, and older.
Pretty sure the flashy lowrider-ish bike is a micargi

Re: Stranger Things

Started watching the series and it seems cool. They put alot of detail into making it feel like the time period. Boom boxes, phones, furniture and vehicles. Except the bikes..if you look close they are using modern bikes. Where the heck are the quil stems and threaded forks at? Why do so much detail and leave out the bikes? Just seems like they dropped the ball on the bicycle department!

Hey what do you know, guns will work on them and right when it matters most roll

Imagine a banana seat on a bmx bike in 1984...

Still tho, one of the best recent shows out there

Re: Stranger Things

Read somewhere they were concerned on finding legit 80s bikes that looked the same for the purpose of having backup ones. Im sure if they contacted anyone of us on the museum we could have at least helped out. Not that hard to round up a couple stock looking kuwis or rampars? And who wouldnt want to lend out there bikes to be a movie prop! That would be cool cool

Re: Stranger Things

That’s a lame excuse. They customized the shit out of those bikes. Even the girls skateboard is correct for the era, but they franked up hard on the bikes.
