Re: Tony Hawks BMX Bikes Launched

About the bigest down fall I see so fare with the
Tony Hawks Bikes in IBD and Mass is lack of PR.
Dynacraft and Tony Hawk so fare are lack in that
area for some reason. Im more than shore if
something was wrong in the CPSC areas of the
bikes we all would be seeing CPSC barking foul
by now via PR and recall And we do not see that.

I see everyone degrade down on the Tony Hawks
Bikes becouse of sales in the mass market. Well
news flash, the bikes are sold via BOTH IBD & Mass.
But what I do not see is anyone having one of the
Tony Hawks Bikes and reporting on it. If you have
one of the Tony Hawks Bikes give us a report.......

RE: Maurice Meyer,
Yes, Tony Hawk does help in the BMX community
a lot more than you think. Less just say What If MR
Tony Hawk was Not to have the nice Grants to hand
out to help build them skate parks out there? You
would see less skate park out there than you do now
I see a lot of BMXers riding in lots of skate parks that
he has help build over time. So I say its a big + for
us all. You are right, Iv never seen Tony Hawk ridding
a BMX bike but looks like he is supporting BMX a lot
more than you see some of the BMX community its
self in supporting its self. - If Im wrong, where in to
days date is a BMX FREESTYLE Sanction at? The BMX
community its self does lack. It does look like that Mr
Tony Hawk is showing lots of support for BMX by the
help with the Grants and the BMX Bikes them selfs....

RE: Rividude,
The Mongoose was sucked up by the monopolising
Dorel Industries/Pacific Cycle. What you see today
with the Mongoose is what we all get. Them good
old days are gone and there is no turning back as
today its all about the money and the mass market
makes them lots of money. CC - Forum Thread:

Re: Tony Hawks BMX Bikes Launched

I'm curious to learn more about the Tony Hawk foundation and their stance on BMX in skateparks.  Did some googling and found a few things:

1. Here's Rooftop speaking to the question about bikes in skateparks:

http://www.vitalbmx.com/news/news/Tony- … n-BMX,2208

This line pretty much sums it up: "The information simply educates the cities on what actions to take to build a better skatepark if the city chooses to allow BMX."  Which says that they're passive on the issue - neither here nor there to them.

2. So, I took a look through the grant application here:

http://www.tonyhawkfoundation.org/grant_application.asp

And, again it's pretty passive about BMX - no mention at all.  But, the thing that I wonder about and I may research a little more is: do they grant money to parks that don't allow bikes.  I mean, that would be pretty hypocritical to give money to parks that don't allow BMX then sell these bikes that are modeled after the BMX freestyle lifestyle of which, one of the biggest issues is skatepark access.

Again, I don't expect any skaters to advocate for BMX - it's not their thing.  I get that.  But, once Tony Hawk decides he's getting into BMX, I expect more.  I think his foundation grant rules should be specific about grants only being made for projects which allow Skateboards, BMX and Roller Skates/Blades.  I mean say it up front - "we support access for all wheels and only consider grants to project that also do."

I don't see that but honestly, I think Tony Hawk is alright.  He's got a lot going on and new ventures take a while to get going.  I'd like to think that he'd get more behind BMX if he's going to get into it but that remains to be seen.  I hope he does but at this point, I don't see it.

Re: Tony Hawks BMX Bikes Launched

Can anyone comment on the wheelset on these. I can't find much for specs,  one site mentioned double wall rims,  are the hubs sealed bearing or at least aluminum.

I'm piecing together an old beat up dyno for my nephew.  Theres a Tony Hawk on Craigslist that I may pick up as a parts donor if the parts are worth pulling off.
