1983 Birmingham Wheels Team Mini

The rarest WHEELS model; one of only 3 known examples and the only known 'T' (for team) stamped example.

Team WHEELS Mini purchased from ex-WHEELS rider Rebecca Maiden (bought off her brother Aeron).

This 'Reynolds 501 Butted' stamped frame also has the early 'T' stamping after the serial number which according to the WHEELS Team Manager Chris Lawther was used to identify team frames. This is the only known existing example with this early feature, and is one of only 3 known surviving WHEELS Minis. It also has extra strengthening washers brazed on the rear brake bridge, as seen on other later team frames. These are larger Minis than you would expect, with a 17.5inch top tube. Extremely light, the rarest of the rare.
Original chrome, repro decals (original head tube decal sourced from Holland).
Included is a period shot of Rebecca racing this very frame!

Sure is mate. Birmingham WHEELS Project was my local track BITD. Always lived their frames - very rare even back then!

Re: 1983 Birmingham Wheels Team Mini

Yes mate, that's me. These are my favourite frames, but so so rare with less than 30 examples listed on the WHEELS register (and I own 7 of those!).

Thanks man - the WHEELS frames are all very rare indeed, whichever model. I have a few more builds to post up yet - starting to become a bit of an obsession!

It is pretty much built now actually, but is being used for a charity bike ride from London to Brighton in September so has been built for comfort and practicality at this stage - certainly not era-correct! It will be getting rebuilt slightly afterwards and will then be posted up
