Sanderspeed.  But I would have to say I think the overall quality of the sanderspeeds beats the original hutch aerospeeds. The welds are nicer, and the axles don't crack as easily. Best thing is, when they are installed, it's really hard to tell the difference...

Axle?

I'm sure you meant....WORST THING IS when installed it is almost possible to tell the difference. They would look just as good with the year of manufacture stamped on each arm in an inconspicuous, but visible, place.

And yes, the Sanderspeeds were better looking in terms of quality and workmanship than orig. Aerospeed cranks. Doubt they were any better, or comparable, in terms of duarability.

pretty sure they are more durable....most any modern crank, or shit, even cranks from back then, were more durable lol

theres a reason originals are so rare, because they were bad cranks and a lot of them cracked, also the reason why they stopped making them.

cool score, and thread, but i'll never understand the hutch fanatics rollcool

Score is such an overplayed term nowadays..

Re: Craigslist Hutch Judge Score!!! Maybe score of the century?? PIC HEAVY

Bummer they weren't Aero cranks but I thought the op shared a pretty cool bike and handled the whole situation well. It was an educational thread and in the end he got what he wanted and the buyer did as well. So it was worth it imo. cool

Bingo

Probably Ivans one from kidcok...wonder if he still has my old green nomura? Oh whatever...it doesn't matter much anymore. I would say after seeing kidcoks judge in person, this was it.

Re: Craigslist Hutch Judge Score!!! Maybe score of the century?? PIC HEAVY

It was bought as a "look what I scored and am gonna flip deal" so I dont feel bad one bit for the op. Good for the seller, didn't get hosed like most of them do by flippers.

ok- not THE score of the century...but I think it's a pretty good one. Those "I buy old bmx bikes" wanted ads I post really paid off with this one.

So- I heard from this guy about a week ago. He asked if I would be interested in an all original 1985 Hutch Judge. Ummmm, yeah? Depends on condition and price...same as I tell everyone. Then I don't hear back from him....and 5 days later he drops this bomb of texted pics on me-

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … 8zkw2c.jpg

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … vyvgwj.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … i1cjzu.jpg

GULP.......I waited as long as I could (2 minutes) and texted him back, not trying to sound too excited or anything, and simply asked him if he could pop the black cap off the end of the cranks and snap a pic for me...

Two minutes later, this comes in--

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … x9rn95.jpg

Ok, it's on. This bike is legit. The seller wasn't completely oblivious as to what he had though. A few days of negotiations ensued, a trip across two state lines, and finally I'm back. The first Hutch I've had in my possession since I sold my Pro Racer in 1985 when I quit racing-

It's a restoration, and from what I can tell, a pretty nice one.I've done high end automotive restorations for 25+ years, and can say this was done really well. I believe it's paint, and not powdercoated. Feel free to pipe in (as I'm sure some of you will) tell me I'm wrong, let me know if you spot anything I missed...whatever. But here's what I can tell we have here from my little bit o' old school Hutch knowledge-

1985 Hutch Judge in Baby Blue, with original forks-
What I think are NOS aerospeed cranks (I haven't popped em apart yet to inspect the axle)
Original Date coded Kashimax Aero seat, 7-83, with allen head guts
Original Pedals, painted to match frame (?) - They have the old Japan NR5 bearings
Show chromed Araya 7X rims on what seem to be repop Son Lite hubs (no logo)
Original Comp IIIs
Oakley B2 re-issues
Not sure on the bars, seatpost, clamp and stem...I'll know more when I pull it apart to inspect it.
Pads, original?? They look to be period correct.
Brakeset, maybe newer MX-900s-- again, I'll see if they are date coded when I take it apart.

but here's how she looks in the light of day--

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … 7tpvbq.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … 8i5hlp.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … t8ozqt.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … zdkvps.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … d8sam1.jpg
http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz11 … aejvwz.jpg

thanks to my old buddy "DamageInc" for talking me through this one--

Re: Craigslist Hutch Judge Score!!! Maybe score of the century?? PIC HEAVY

would the seat be a hutch aero with hutch on the side and not kashamax aero if it was original to the period?

play on words im guessing is why people keep saying sanderspeed and not sand n dirt?

and who is sand n dirt? did they make other parts?

He was a member on vintagebmx from the Netherlands.  He saw an opportunity to make those cranks & cash in.

Kinda makes me sad that the one Hutch I really liked was a whole lot of wrong. & repro.  That blue was pimp as hell.
